I want to make some cannabuutter... I have already made my Ghee (clarified butter)!I'm going to use the crock pot method. The question i have is this... Can u make cannabutter from ghee? Is it made the same way? I would melt the ghee on low, i have about 2.5 lb of ghee, then add my stuff about 2oz then let it sit for about 12 hours. Will it work? Or do u have to use butter?

Get a large potato ricer and some cheese muslin if you can.

You can squeeze a LOT of extra oil out of the cannabis that way. :)

potato ricer, never thought of that! Great idea, i'm going to try that. I pour the contents into a mason jar, then add a damp, double layered piece of cheesecloth, screw on the metal band and pour into another glass container, takes awhile, but its the easiest way i know how to do it.....

You can also kief the bud or use hash, hash oil.

Heat the Ghee to 250F and stir in the kief, oil or crumbled hash. You'll see the decarb process as a whitish haze of fine bubbles. In 15-20 minutes you can see the haze start to thin... pull it off the heat.

Should you just stop at 15 minutes you'll find it to be pretty potent, but more potent if you bake it in a cookie or muffin. :)

A french press is definitely the way to go. Very little waste butter using it. Also, I generally only simmer for 6-8 hours. Haven't really needed to go any longer than that for full effect. But it is worth mentioning that I use buds only and no trim. So maybe simmer trim a little bit longer to get the most of what is there out. Good luck.
