Why is "dank" a good word?

I don't get it. The word always makes me think of mildew, and dark, smelly caves or something like that. Why do people use that word to describe good bud? If someone said they wanted to smoke some dank, I'd probably say "No thanks I got some dried and cured stuff over here."

No, that's okay, because it's an obvious euphemism. It's obvious that you aren't talking about feces, in that scenario. But to use the word dank, which is a word that should be reserved for describing a negative quality of bud, as a good word is not fair.

Because if I want to say my weed wasn't dried properly, I can't day it's dank. If I did people would think I was saying my weed was fantastic, when really I would be complaining. So instead I have to say "moist" which sucks because that word makes me gag. I just dry-heaved while typing the word out.

So no, you can call it good shit,but if you call it dank shit I would be like "nope, shit's dried and cured."

'dank', I think of moist bud; just like the word means..

I am glad someone asked this question so a hipster can enlighten us, because I too always thought of dank as sort of moist/musty. The definition is: Disagreeably damp, musty, and typically cold.

Originally when I first heard the term "dank", when I was like 16, I thought it was odd. Reminds me of something cold and moist. A good example of the proper context to me is "my basement has a moisture problem, its very dank."

I use the word "dank" to describe good herb on the regular... but this thread does have me analyzing the term a bit and it surely doesn't describe what I consider to be the high quality, finely cured cannabis that I love so much.

Funny how silly things like this stick...

Its pretty much the only word I hear to describe good herb. Actually just herb in general. If its of the highest quality, it then is graduated to "superdank"....
