Odour Control

Hi Folks,
I'm in the market for decent odour control methods and am thinking of buying a 'Mountain Breeze' Ozone Generator from my local grow shop. I kinda get what it does but would love to hear from anyone who's used one of these gizmos. Do they do what it says on the box??

I have never used that model. OZONE is one of the best methods to get rid of odors. Some large warehouses use both can and generators. If your space is small no need to spend that much can filters will work just fine.

I was going to get one but decided the can filters would work fine. These are for large areas 4000sf they do have one for 800sf..

I would second Hammerheads opinion on the Can filters. I have a 4'x5'x7' space and a Can 50 leaves no trace of odors comming out the exhaust.

I also use a 50 my sapce is a 10x10x12 room. No smells

My carbon filter wasn't doing it so I researched and installed an inline ozone gen. The most powerful I could find is by big blue. I went with the 8" it has 3 lights and a switch for each. I really don't need all 3 at once so I just turn on what I need depending on smell.

I looked at many and compare the amount of O3 each produce per hour. The popular brands at the shops produced 1/10 the amount for same $.

You also have to remember that your nose gets used to the smell and just because you can't smell it doesn't mean others can't

Thanks for that Hammerhead but I'm a kind of belt-and-braces kinda guy & I know what my neighbours are like. One whiff of my 'super-stinky' and they'd 'drop a dime', of that I'm sure. My girls are kicking up a fine stink already & I know its only gonna get worse, so I wanna stay pro-active and do something before I have to. I reckon I'll give it a go - for £135 and folk telling me from personal experience that they actually work - no brainer!

Thanks for that Medicalmj, great info & real clutch knowledge.
My 'output' isn't the problem for me as it all goes up the chimney. Its leakage from elsewhere that concerns me. Although I will be adopting a 'negative pressure' approach to the air in the room, I feel with an OG in there its gonna help.

I use a jenesco dc-10 in my grow room and it doesn't smell in there at all. It has adjustable ozone output so I can dial it to the amount of stink coming off the plants without having the room smell like ozone real bad. Its not good to be exposed to high concentrations of ozone. If your going to vent through a duct out of the room (negative pressure), then you don't have to worry about it so much, the higher output generators are ok.

I prefer to use a Vaportek Optimum 4000 w/ Neutral Cartridge. You'll have more recurring costs associated with replacing the cartridge every 120days or so, but much safer then ozone.

Ozone works, but needs to be used correctly... inline or immediately dumped to the outside. Ozone is highly corrosive and not good for your health in concentrated levels.

I recently bought a can lite carbon filter, and I have to say that I am very impressed. had My girlfriends parents stayed with us over the weekend, and they did not have a clue that I had anything going on(even when the gf's mom came down to the basement to smoke with us and was within feet of the room I am growing in.) Before I had the filter in place, I could smell the smell it throughout my place, and now it just reeks in the grow room and no where else(unless it is chop time, then it stinks everywhere again).
