A meter of rain in 4 days here (not unusual this decade, but fuck me if the wind didn't blast for 30 hours)...which is why I lashed this Thai to a few posts...

Hi guys. All the pics in here look very tasty! I hope most of you are having a good year?
Once again this year im growing a Super Lemon Haze Fem Seed from GHS. I think this may be the last time i use fem seeds or GHS. To many bad storys from people. Although myself, i have had no bad luck yet.
Anyway.... This year i am growing it in a largeish pot with 50L of potting mix. Are plants budding later this year then they did last? Im in SA and this time last years my girll was getting very hairy and the heads where developing nicely. This year it has not really shown me sex at all. Im starting to get slightly worried. Should i be? It has been hot today, so its looking a bit droopy, even though i gave her about 5L of water last night. What do you guys think?
Thanks for the help. :)

Looks like shes suffering moisture stress. Probably too dry. Check under the soil a few cm with yer finger. If you put a hose etc on a slow drip/drizzle and leave it for a few hours it will soak in.

A saucer underneath will help too.

NiceAussie looks like water loss and major heat issues mate. And in the SA sunshine that black pot will cook the roots in no time flat, plus the heat generated by the pavers next to the plant will help cook the shit outta it too. Maybe try putting her in the ground and bend her away from the pavers if that's the spot for her or put her in a bigger pot but a different colour than black, bunnings, kmart, mitre 10, local nursery etc all will have green coloured pots.
Best of Luck Mate :gday:

looking good guys...

and yes NA...5l of water 3 -4 times a day in ol adelaide town...some summers we would leave the drippers running on low in 1 hour on/off intervals and still have plants wilt...shade cloth really helps...especially when them northerlies blow...

NiceAussie, I've also seen potted plants droop like that after an ant infestation...you could extract her gently from the pot to check. If so submerging in water for a day has worked for me...

I agree with bushweed, pots are a nightmare to grow in outside in our summers. The rootball just cooks, ants get in and every other bug under the sun. Sooner or later the root system deteriorates and cannot take up nutrients and root rot sets in. Then the plants are stuffed.

About all you can do is keep plugging away I guess, bigger pots, keep those roots cooler.

As bushweed has shown you cannot beat a big hole in the ground.....but there's always hydro if you can't do that.

Who knows it's different for everyone but at least your having a go, sometimes it works and sometimes it goes to shit.

Have fun.

OMG When those frigging northerlies start blowing expect to be farking cooking :yoinks:
I water 9l in the morning at dawn then if the desert northerlies are blowing I'll put the sprinkler on dripping all day then another 9l after the sun goes down, plants still suffer heat stress, shade cloth is good also on those 35-40+ days :good:

I grow in 50 lt pots over summer and don't have to much trouble,25Lt organic pot mix,15 lt coco (baged stuff) 5lt worm cast and 5 lt sandy loam + a handful of rock dust and Dynamic lifter,I wrap cardboard and tie it of if its get to hot or just stand plywood off cuts to cast a shadow.Growing in pots allows me to force the long flowering ones off early and finish them by March,my season ends by mid April most years. This one is wrapped in a bit of Air Cell insulation I had spare and has seen temps around 46 degrees and remained happy

Yeah insulating the pot will work well.

Talking of ants i have a colony of jackjumpers in one of my pots. Vicious little buggers they are! I turned my drippers on fast flow in the hope of flushing them out. The pots pretty big so hopefully if they do stick around they dont do too much damage to the roots!
