24 hours light or 18-6

I'm doing my first grow now and wondering if its better to vege with 18-6 or 24 hours light, what will give me best and fastest results? People have always told me the plants need darkness to grow?

i prefer 24/0
all light all the time
i feel like the plants grow faster
my mentor told me "they can sleep in flower"... so the philosophy was workem when the 'sun' shines....

someone did a 'study' and concluded 20/4 was best....

alls i know is i definately prefer not to use 18/6

whatever works for you

Thanks the info was verry helpful I think ill switch them to 24 hours :) can you help me with something else please? My white rhino plant indicate dominant was dieing all the leafes were drooping down and she looked really sick I think I over watered her and was using a home made pot with only one small centre hole, so I think water sat at the roots and started to rot, so i took cuttings of the whole plant and got six cuttings she was topped twice and a lovely little bush. Is there any chance of the cuttings surviving I used rooting powder and cut them at 45 degree angle?

What medium are you using for your cuts?

There's a grow guide on here somewhere that said 20/4 was best, but if you want to save power you can go 18/6.

18/6 for the win. I have tried 24/0, ad 18/6 and there was no benefit to keeping the lights on for 24 hours. The plants get a chance to rest, and you save energy with 18/6

I run them 24/0 in smaller pots to keep the node spacing nice and tight, then on transplant into bigger pots I switch to anything from 16/8 to 18/6... then you get a bit of stretch in the node spacing and upward growth... so usually 24 hours under high cfls and 16+ under hps/mh... each to own though.

depends on amount of electric you want to use. is the slight gain worth 25%more consumption of 24/0 compared to 18/6 are you in a hurry or enjoying a pleasant journey?

I think ill just try 24 hours light for now and then experiment with others in the future. Thanks for all the help people :) what will happen if I grow strait from a massive pot with no pot change?

Well I'm in a hurry at the moment because i need to move into a new property after this crop, as there is many people I can not trust around here if you now what I mean!

I use 18gal pots to start my plants for the patio from clone,.. deal is just only water a small amount around the rootzone not the entire huge container so that you get wet dry cycles and that is what draws the roots down.. ya dig? Goodluck!
