Weed hangovers

I have always heard people talking about this, but always thought they were lightweights or something...

I have been a stay-high for 17 years now, smoking many different strains throughout my career, and I have never experienced a weed hangover until this morning. My main question is, WHAT is a weed hangover, and WHY do they [sometimes] happen?

The strain I've been puffing on is Dinafem White Widow. Harvested at 63 days, so not taken down early, not taken down late. When I smoke it I get soooooooo tired, and almost have to fight to stay awake. That will pass after a half hour or so, and it's a quality stone, so I'm not complaining. So then I smoked a bowl of it before bed last night thinking it would help me to get right to sleep, as I suffer from insomnia. It certainly did that!!! Sleep medicine it is!!

But... I woke up this morning still feeling kind of stoned. It wasn't really like being stoned though, it was kind of like being hungover, but no yucky feeling of alcohol in my system or anything like that... it's just, it felt like a hangover, and I was just sure that it was resulting from the White Widow.

What's up with that?

I've never had a weed hang over. People probably get them from smoking mexican dirt weed, I have heard of people feeling sick, soar throats etc.. after puffing a lot of shwag.

I fail to see the problem here.

Hell, i even thought it was normal for daily tokers to wake up feeling hazy in the morning before you made this thread.

thought it came down to brain oxygen starvation cos of last nite's smoking and lazing around.

for me a twenty minute walk first thing in the morning eliminates the condition.

cheers!

I'm guessing that when your metabolism slows down while sleeping, cannabinoid levels stay relatively high (no pun intended), longer. I grow bagseed and round here it's all Indica. I don't like total couch-lock all that much, so I usually harvest early (about 10% or less amber) and I don't get to that point. At any rate, I never considered it a hangover, as such, but it did take me longer to "wake-up."

I wouldn't call it a hangover, but I have experienced a groggy feeling when first waking after smoking before bed. Oddly, it was some better than average mids and not good sticky. And that stuff made me sleep deeply too. Best sleep meds ever, and it was nothing special in the potency department. And it wasn't a lasting feeling, a cup of coffee shook it right off.

Wish I could get a batch of that again, just for the great sleep. And it was cheap.

I find it has a lot to do with how much indica is in the strain... as well as what type of indica it is.

Not exactly sure what it is... but I've experienced that 'hangover' feeling on a few occasions. It's not chems or overnuted or insecticides... it's the cannabinoid profile.

Those who are not 'sensitive' to their body as much will probably not feel much of anything at all. In fact, I've had much worse food hangovers, back when I used to eat processed foods.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

I get it quite often. Mainly with indicas, cause that's all there is around here. Nowhere as bad as an alcohol hangover is, but you still feel pretty average. But, as with all drugs, they affect different people in different ways.

The worst bit is if it is garbage gear, you fell pretty average for a while afterwards. Yeh, you can smoke more, but in my case the tolerance shoots through the roof pretty quick, and then the other problem is that you end up smoking 2, 3 times as much per session to get half the effect.

The funny thing in my case was that the more I educated myself here, the more I noticed the hangover effect, so I wonder how much is also psychosomatic (in your head, putting it very crudely).

At least Hush knows what he/she is smoking, here in australia, 95% of the time all you know is that it's more than likely hydro, and it's always 'good shit' (dealers sales pitch). If they tried half of the midrange gear that is discussed on here let alone the top shelf stuff, I reckon they'd be in the corner in the foetal position.

Good topic. Thanks for raising it.

I get it from Edibles and also if I am smoking a lot of wax very late-- I don't think it is a Hangover...I think it is just still being High-- I call it "Waking up Fuzzy!" :)
