LEDs to round out PLL spectrum?

Hey LED enthusiasts,

I am currently growing out some plants for mother selection with 4x55w PLLs. I used this setup on my last grow in a scrog format and I was very pleased with their performance. You can see the light setup here. I do two 3000K and two 6500K for veg and swapped to 4x 3000k bulbs for flowering. That grow was heavily influenced by what rives has been doing with his stuff.

I was planning on filling the gaps in the fixture with LED bars this time around to boost the wattage and round out the holes in the PLL spectrum which by most cases is pretty satisfactory as it is.

I have read through practically everything here and I am going in circles now with information overload! Initially I was only going to supplement additional 660nm reds a la Rive's sweet hybrid fixture. Then I thought well maybe I should add some NW crees to fill in the gaps in the PLL spikes after reading how "perfect" they were on the curve and has near all the red you need. Then I reread rive's thread and agreed trying to add more light via LEDs, when each bar can only hold 9 diodes, is sort of inefficient when I could just add more PLLs for more light and less money (I am going to use rapidled solderless). So then I am back to just supplementing with more reds for the spectrum fillout.

My current "final" idea is 3x bars, 9 diodes each, with 3 NW CREE XPG and 6 REBEL ES 660nm. This way I get some of that spectrum fillout I wanted for the PLLs while supplementing the deficient reds and not spending all that money on XPGs which I am not even driving to full power since they will all be running at the rebel 700ma. (I am not flexible on the solderless and 700ma at this point in attempts to keep everything easy and tidy).

RED RED NW RED RED NW RED RED NW
NW RED RED NW RED RED NW RED RED
RED RED NW RED RED NW RED RED NW

Given that you would be restricted to only the solderless components on rapidled, how would you fill out this fixture? Any comments on my last idea? :thank you:

I love my 55 biaxs

I can't replace them or rather wouldn't think of replacing them.

I think they have the perfect setup overall and have thought about doing a larger pll grow which I have never seen before.

Can't wait to see what you get cookin

meanwell apc-16-700 would run 10 2.4v diodes for like $8-something from future electronics {700ma}

i like your 'final' plan
