Hi guys planning, on doing a trip to LA come April and was hoping for some advice on lodging as well as spots to eat and see. Anywhere close, to the coast would be great as I been told to stay away from east la. Going to do 2 trips, this round will be socal next time will be norcal

Hehheh, I was just telling my husband about the time I parked my car ON Atlantic Blvd in east LA. Came back a few hours later to shattered windows, breezy ride home. I knew it might happen there, but allowed myself to be talked into it anyway.

Whereabouts in LA do you plan to go? East LA isn't exactly close to the coast as LA goes. Do you wanna be closer to Hollywood, or Disneyland? I use Yelp for selecting restaurants, and so far it's been the best method. Found some real gems using Yelp.

DEFINATLY check out Tito's Tacos in Culver City West L.A. area. There is usually a line but TRUST me, its worth it!!

Also dont forget the Famous Cali staples when it comes to food, In N Out, and Pinks Hot Dogs. Both Equally amazing.

Also if you like seafood, theres a place Called Neptunes Net in Malibu off PCH. Its kind of a biker place but is Famous, it was also in the orginal the fast and the furious movie. If you feel like traveling to the San Fernando valley go to the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas for sunday bruch, they are famous. its pricey ($25 a person ) but its more than just a meal, its an experience. and last time i was there we saw 2 of the Kardashains sisters there, Kourtney and one of the little ones. Just saying....

Good Luck and happy trails

If you find yourself in San Pedro for some odd reason make sure you go to Busy Bee. It's a locals place so most people from out of state don't have a clue but locals drive from all over to get their sandwich's. Stick with hole in the wall places to eat, you won't be disappointed. If you can get a car take a trip to Huntington Beach and San Diego. While in LA stick with the beach towns. Hollywood is a tourist trap and if you're there late at night don't be surprised if some gangster looking fellows ask you for a cigarette and then promptly robs you.

Go get yourself some Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles too. The one in Long Beach is the best I think. Long Beach has some cool little spots as long as you stay by the water. Don't go inland past Anaheim St in LB, it gets shitty quick.

Go to Venice to see the weirdos. Check out Santa Monica pier. If you're old enough Hermosa and Redondo have the best bars and women.

If you're in the Valley at all check out the Getty Center.

There is so much in the Long Beach/Belmont Shores area, and it's been too many years since I've been out there. I used to work at the Long Beach Aquarium. Kinda spendy on admission, but it's a pretty cool place if you get a chance.

Yea, Belmont is fun. Taco Surf has awesome happy hour deals. The sushi bar I used to go to all the time is right across the street but I'm pretty sure it's either gone or has changed hands.

LA is so huge and spread out and there are so many things to do to entertain just about anyone. I have family there and it is funny, but I will slip in and out of town without telling them so that I can see some of the many one of a kind attractions. As for the beach, I prefer San Diego myself. You have plenty of time to do some independent research and even look for some deals. Spring break will mean increased traffic in the attractions though, and don't expect any real good deals.
