Can anyone help? Already tried to diagnose this...

Hello! Not a total newbie to growing, this is my 9th grow in 3 years.
I used to do hydro, and really loved it but didn't like using chemicals.
Now am in Pro-mix with Flora Nova, Earth Juice Micro Blast and Sweet Raw.
My last grow was great. No issues except heat from the lamps so I added another fan.
This grow was fine until a couple weeks after I replanted my girls and did LST... all of a sudden I have twisting leaves, paling between the leaves veins, and some burning. I thought maybe it was a micro-nutrient problem or maybe not feeding them enough for the amount of inert soil they were put into . They were transplanted from 1 gallon pots of Happy Frog into 5 gallon bags of Pro mix. They were having pH issues with the Happy frog so I went to pro mix. I put some pictures on the board. Can anyone help me? Should I leave them alone now that I fed them again or should I flush them and start over with the fertilizer? Thank You!

Are you shaking the shit out of that FloraNova? Did your water source change? Is it tap water? If so, have you checked the utility's water report? What's the pH of your runoff?

It looks to me like multiple deficiencies, phosphorus for one, but also some micros. That could mean a lockout. You also said you added another fan... do you think that fan might be too strong? I've heard that plants can experience the deficiencies due to the leaves' stomata being unable to rest due to all the transpiring they are doing, because of all that wind.

Just some thoughts off the top of my head.

That's what I wondered too. Multiple deficiencies so I didn't know if I was under feeding them or locking them up. Yeah they have a lot of wind. Maybe I'll back it up a bit?

First I would check the pH of the runoff, to make sure there isn't something funky going on with your pro mix. Provided that is okay, then yes, I would think that too much wind could be causing the plants to sweat too much, basically. I've never had that problem personally, but I've come across others saying something to this effect. Hopefully someone else will chime in here. ;)

can you fill out this information so we can help you better I see nitrogen and magneisum present as the problem, why it's happening I need more info. pH is defiantly going to be important to know, Did you test the pH of the water and run off? earth juice is acidic do you let it sit out 24 hours before using it?
Did you rinse some of the soil off before you put it in promix or did you just add soil to the mixture with them being in happy frog? you are going to have a probem since you have mixed mixtures with them both needing different pH values... but need for info like hush said, pH is deffinatly going to be the first thing, you need to collect the run off after you water and post back here, you have pH pen or test strips?

SOIL:

How long has this problem been going on?
What STRAIN are you growing?
What was the establishing technique? (seed or clone?)
What is the age of your plants?
How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now?
Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant? If not, what mixture were they in before?

What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?
What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc)
What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot)
What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?)
What brand Nutrient's are you using?
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
How often are you feeding?
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients?
What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect)
What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used?
What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"?
How often are you testing pH/ppm/EC/TDS?
What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen?

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water?
If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap?(Only if you have a tds pen)
If using RO,Distilled, mineral water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS without any additives?(Only if you have a tds pen)

All respect to those who have posted above! and here's my view:

I don't know yr soils but would be concerned if they are 'amended' soils.

Any amendments to the soil can interact with yr nutes and cause all sorts of wierd problems.

like, especially that last pic looks like it's reacting to an imbalance of nutes.

all I can suggest is that you flush well and see if the problem grows out.

How long has this problem been going on? About 10-14 days-- I did flush 2 days ago, are now really paling-out in the center of all new growth.

What STRAIN are you growing? Several: Chocolate Chunk, Ace Of Spades, Moby Dick, Super Lemon Haze

What was the establishing technique? Clones

What is the age of your plants? after rooting, and establishing new growth= vegged 3 weeks

How long have they been in the soil mixture they are in now?= They were in happy frog, and were looking bad- so replanted, root ball soil & all- into Pro Mix BX 2 weeks ago

Were they in the same mixture when they were seedlings/smaller plant? If not, what mixture were they in before?are the plants? Started in cups of Pro mix- did great- Shop only Had Happy Frog left when re-planted.. they did not like it so repotted AGIN after 10 days into more Pro mix- were already having issues before replanted.

What PHASE (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in?VEG

What Technique are you using? (SOG, SCROG etc) LST and vegging to full size (2-3ft) before 12/12

What size pots are you using? (Include how many subjects to pot) Older plants Just went from 1 gallon into 5 gallon, younger ones from 1/2 gallon into 3 gallon

What substrate/medium are you using? What brand of soil mixture are you using?(percentage of perlite, vermiculite...etc?) Straight-up Pro mix- Used before without a problem... but now???

What brand Nutrient's are you using? Flora Nova-- but switching to tea's and Pure Blend Pro.

How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful*
Following a feeding Chart-- different amounts and ec/ppm each week dependant on plant age.

How often are you feeding?
Feed 1x a week- water in between with Good (zero ppm) well water at 6.8-7.0 pH and occasional carbs & "mico-beasties"

If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients? Not yet...

How Tall - older plants with LST are only 8-10" but had they not been tied- about 12-15"

What order are you mixing your nutrients? (example: veg nutes 1st, bloom 2nd ect) Is a one part + Micros-- nutes into the water 1st then the micro

What is the TDS/EC/PPM of your nutrients used? Depends on age of plant-- so far below 1.0-1.2ec at most...

What is the pH of the "RUN-OFF"? BAD BAD ME!! Wasn't testing it- and wasn't watering deep enough.. in flush- it was 5.4!!!

How often are you testing pH/ppm/EC/TDS? I test the ec every feeding/watering-- but wasn't testing the runoff., only the solution/water going in

What method of pH test was administered? Using Strips? pH pen? Pen- adjusted each time.

How often are you watering? When they tell me they need it-- top 2 inches of soil dry and planter "light" but the plants not stressing/drooping

When was your last feeding and how often are you feeding? Once a week-- Not since flushing them 3 days ago.. and they are yellowing even worse Now in the center of all the newer growth.

What size bulb are you using? 400w HPS Hortilux EYE on large plants- 10 100w CFL's in a un-glassed hood for the small ones... the CFL's are within 3-4 inches-- the HPS is 18" away

How old is your bulbs?- NEW! Replace on New Years every Year!

What is the distance to the canopy?the CFL's are within 3-4 inches-- the HPS is 18" away

What is your RH Factor? (Relative Humidity) NOT high enough- probably only about 40-45%... but added a humidifier 2 days ago.. so getting better (Winter here is DRY!)

What is the canopy temperature? 74f-78f

What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include fluctuation range) Under 24/0-- very little fluctuation

What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) running 3 Large hurricane fans- the light is air cooled with 750cfm to the outdoors, have a 6" intake fan with filter. The babies are moving, always... but not violently.

Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running ? Intake always.. exhaust always-- have total air-turnover every 1/2 hour... (figured by a grow guy who helped set up)

Is the fan blowing directly at plants? One is- yes

Is the grow substrate constantly wet or moist?--no, allowed for top 2-3" totally dry and medium to get "light" before watering...without the plants stressing.

Is your water HARD or SOFT? Well water- used 3 different ec/ppm meters-- always no reading- near zero!

What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? ^^^^

If using tap water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS of the water right out of the tap?(Only if you have a tds pen)^^^^

If using RO,Distilled, mineral water, what is the ppm/EC/TDS without any additives?(Only if you have a tds pen)

Are you using water from a water softener? NO!

Has plant been recently pruned, cloned or pinched? No- LST'd, but after the problem started

Have any pest chemicals been used? If so what and when? Used Mightywash only. Supposedly is ionized/supercharged water with no chemicals or residue.

Are plant's infected with pest's? No- HAD mite issues in past- still the occasional sighting- but keep up with it... no infestations!

Okey Dokey-- I went to the plant room, and really looked them over...
the plants in 5 & 3 gallon planters that were flushed and re-planted in pro-mix are beginning to look better- but still a lot of twisted leaves...

However- The babies that were NOT replanted.. started in cups of Pro-mix then vegged in Happy Frog in 1-gallon planters.. are the ones getting worse... a lot of yellowing going on despite being flushed....

Babe, this photo is why I thought your trouble is wierd interactions in yr soils. you'll see the curly, cupped leaves are a lot like one of yr pics.

the plant is sativa/indica cross, outdoors in organic soil. BUT the cow shit in the soil was still too fresh when I planted. so all sorts of wierd things happened.

the pic was taken months ago and altho the plants are now huge, curly new growth is still visible.

so, it's not the end of the world! get that pH right and they will probably do ok.

cheers!
