Whats up everybody..?

So, I've been donating blood for some time now.. Usually no big deal. come in, show my ID, give the blood and Done.

But then, last time I was there, the nurse said that from now on I would have to use my index fingerprint instead...?!?! She said it was because it made identification easier and more safe..

I don't really know what to think about that...
Sure, they have my blood, but I just really don't like that thought of them also having my fingerprint.. :S

Any opinions/thoughts etc..??

peace,

Tell the blood bank people that you find fingerprinting unethical and unhygenic and you'd much prefer to supply a sperm sample.

I'd tell them no way.If you don't want my blood that's ok,but no way will I give a fingerprint. As long as people lay down for this crap, the next time you go in, they will want an iris scan. It's all about how much you are willing to give up without a fight. It's too easy for this type of personal info to get out...and who the heck do they think they are to demand a fingerprint? Is this the booking dept at the Po Po station?

If everyone tells them to go fly a kite, then they will drop this fingerprint sh*t in a hurry.Whats next? Xray scans like at the airport?

No way Jose.

That's crap man. Dieing people need your blood and they make it more inconvenient. Typical BS. Is this the states or Canada?

I'd rather my prints attached to something positive, like giving life saving blood.

luckily I'm in a Europe based country.

look @ this realistically, you're
already giving up your dna.

I know, but somehow I feel like its worse if they have my print. Maybe its just my imagination, but it feels like its easier to get screwed if they have the print.

like for instance. The hospital say they will not give the print away, but what if the Police ask them for it? Then I am suddenly not so sure.. :S

I think its fucked up to use fingerprint...

Somebody says I have to be fingerprinted to give blood, then it's their blood that's going to get "donated".

DNA.Yep.I'll bet somewhere in a deep dark bunker, there are samples of all of our DNA.Cept for maybe deepest tribal Africa and a few 3rd world countries.

i wouldn't worry about it

and i would stay away from the television ......... reality is a lot more boring than than all the shit you see on that box.

chances are the blood bank is going to use your print to identify you and not forward it to the KGB,CIA,MI6 or some other all powerful bunch of ass hats

you should roll a joint! and incinerate the prints on the paper

Interesting the number of complacent responses, particularly from this group. Yes, you are already giving them your DNA. However, how many places do you think that your DNA is cross-indexed to your fingerprints?

With technology being what it is that hospital prints its patients and then cross-checks prints against the bloodbank so that if you need blood they want to give you your own first. Smart tek. I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest.

It's always wise to question authority.

if you're really that concerned then call your blood services office and ask if the new protocol of fingerprinting conforms to the same threshold of doctor/patient confidentiality as any other information.
