HPS Bulb Pulsating / Flickering

Do you have a spare bulb to try out? You need one anyway just to CYA. If another bulb does the same thing then its the ballast. I have seen more "twinkling bulbs" from bad ballasts than from bad bulbs.

What he said^

Also, why would anyone ever be spending $1000 on a 600w setup every three grows? Are you saying you change out your ballast, bulb, cool tube, timer, socket, etc every 3 grows?

The socket might not be seating properly or the wire in the socket is only intermittently contacting the shoe. Take the socket apart and check all the connections!

It's about to go out. Is there alot of blackness on each end of the quartz tube?
Is there faint blackness on the inside of the glass envelope? Bulbs end by burning
or leaking their sodium.

flickering would be from your capacitor shitting the bed. power operates at 60 hertz which means it pulsates 60 time a second. capacitors are used to maintain a constant non fluctuating power supply.
