blumats and nutrients

Well I am on my second grow with blumats and I was curious what you guys have been running in them that wont clog them or cause ph problems. I know when i put hygrozyme in my reservoir it caused my ph to keep spiking. Would humic acid, liquid karma, or bud candy be ok. Right now i run house and garden, silicon, and cal/mag.

Hey vein5

I've used canna coco and currently using lucas formula with GH nutes and find they're both fine with blumats until you start adding enzymes and rhizotonic, then they block. Ph hasn't been much of a problem and a bit of drifting is intentional.

I haven't found any sugar based boosters that can be added to the reservoir. Curious what others are using.

And of course drip clean is essential.

I use the full House & Garden line with Blumats in coco, and using Drip Clean at 1ml/gal now. Don't use organic/enzymes in the res itself, only run straight salts and hand water in things like hygrozyme, liquid karma, etc or it will definitely clog.

If you haven't picked up Drip Clean yet you can cheaply make it yourself at 400g PeKacid to 1 liter of distilled/RO water for a cost of $10. Fill your bottle with 3/4 liter of water, add the 400g of PeKacid, mix/shake vigorously then add the remaining 1/4 and mix again. Credit to Avenger for posting that one up.

I've never clogged with GH Micro/Bloom, nor with Maxibloom.
Pro-Silicate

Ran BloomBastic which is a bit thicker out of the bottle with never any clogging issues.

Wow thanks for the replies. I'm going to try the drip clean method. I'm using h&g drip clean and can't believe what they charge. You guys use 1ml per gallon? I have been using .4ml per gallon.

DHF says his growbros in medville are using 1ml per gallon to help keep the medium clear, and .4ml per gallon to keep the lines clear.

I've just started using 1ml/gal to see if there's a difference but it's only been a couple of days. Also just ordered the PeKAcid to make a litre of Drip Clean, since I'm about out of the tiny bottle that lasted for aaages.

I use gen hydro with silica and bloombastic at my rental and have had no issues. At home i'm using H&G with all additives. No clogs here either, however when I was flushing my loop manifold I found a thick sludge. When I opened up the carrots to check them, the sludge was in the 3mm lines too. It looked like it was from the amino and algen extract. I made sure the lines wetter clear for the rest of the run, but i'm sure this would have caused a clog had it been at my remote site that gets less attention. This run i'm just putting coco A+B, silica & drip clean and hand watering the additives every other day. I think the bud XL should be ok, so I will add that when the time comes. Also, humbolt honey did fine in my remote res. I'm not sure it helps or not, but it doesn't hurt and has not clogged the lines. Its got yucca extract and molasses in it.

Yes, drip clean@ 1 ml/gal ftw, especially with blumats as there is no run off

Bud XL will be fine, I've been using Cocos A+B, ProTekt, Drip Clean, Bud XL and Shooting Powder for the last two weeks with no clog or drip issues. Prior to that it was Top Booster, and before that Multi-Zen, none of which clogged at all.

I stayed away from Amino and Algen though since I was worried from other threads they may clog.

Yeah bud XML is fine, I used it my last run. I guess its more of the organic additives. Where do you get pekacid

almost all the chem nutes ive run are fine. no algen, no molasses etc. hand water those if you think you need them. i run active hydro in my flower at the moment, but i will always set up my moms on the blumats when i can. when i start a bare bulb vert grow i will use coco and blumats. they are the shit! but you cant beat the growth rate of active hydro imho

I've used...silica,maxibloom,koolbloom,bud candy, big bud powder,molasses,and.calmag...never had a problem...did start to build up on the rez after week 4 ,now I got a small pump in the res.that keeps the water moving...might add drip.clean since its my 4 th run with these hoses

I've been running full AACT's and the Earth Juice Line with Catalyst (Xatalyst in Canada) combined with blackstrap Molasses for over two years; only have had one clog. Keep it blu!

I've been running the Canna coco a&b with the entire canna additives range,,including boost,, just need to keep a small pump in your rez to keep the boost from settling and clogging the lines,, it is also good practice to pull the 3mm line through your blumats a little and just massage the line (where it would normally pass thru your blumat) between your fingers on a weekly basis,, this will pretty much ensure you don't get any blockages,, and of course run your drip clean

In a previous run I ran the complete HESI line of soil nutes through blumats and got clogged dripper lines ( some white slimey stuff).
After cleaning them and adding some drip clean from there on the problems never re-occurred...

in general I would say chem. nutes are fine and with some agent like drip clean o.s. the lines won't clog.
I would avoid running most organic stuff through the blumats. Instead only use water and hand feed organic nutes every other day ( like I'm doing it now). Of course that takes away the set and forget part when running blumats but well....

all the best,

take care,
