What's up IC, Tinkering with the lighting in my tent today. Have a few options, wanted to see what everyone here thinks would be my best option. Right now i have at my disposal:

600w hps (suuuuuper old bulbs)
2x 250w MH (ton of new bulbs)
3x 150w hps (same as above)
Case of 42w CFLs (daylight and soft white)
Shoplights and junk

I'm not so excited about running the 600w only as the bulbs are really expensive (at least decent ones), every time i've needed to in the past, i justified a few 150w security lights instead or a 250w light; lol. So without any new bulbs for it in my mind the lumen difference of say 2 250's and some cfls or a 250/150/250 setup would work about the same? Never done a MH flower before, curious to see if it really makes that big of a difference.

Anyway i'm gonna make a poll and see what you guys think best.

Cheers

Just to throw a wrench into the works, is growing vert an option? That many HPS and MH bulbs could fit easily into a vertical setup!

You growing for resale or just personal use? In other words how much are you wanting to harvest?

Do you have fans, filters, etc? Are filters even needed where you grow?

If you don't have all the equipment the CFLs May be your only choice.

600w All day. Even if you get a shitty cheap bulb its going to blow all those other lights out of the water when it really comes down to Frost and Density.

Thanks for the replies fellas, gonna try the 2 mh/150 this run, try the 600 again next run. Definitely not going for quantity, just for me and the misses. I'll try and remember to post later any noticable difference in yield/potency between the two.

Cheers

you're going to want to supply a minimum 50 watts per square foot and two 150 watt high pressure sodium is not even gonna come close in that size tent so be prepared for lots of fluffy Larf

People will argue this but through my own trials and tribulations I've made the come to the conclusion that nothing comes close to a 600w/1000w even by Potency standards. If the plants not getting enough light its not going to produce all the oils it potentially can.
