With the amount of posts you have I would think you would know how the search function works. No one is going to search for you to post a link. I'm not trying to be a dick just letting you know how it works.

Ahh man nothing like getting trolled when you'd just like some advice. I would go with this tutorial. Talk about simple and really productive plus the whole thing can easily be built for under 50 bucks, https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=253468

or you could follow blazeonups undercurrent tutorial in the stickys which is excellent. Or just use a drip system like soquick used https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=7366

These are all killer systems and easy to build. I like the nft tables ala medmanbrand best but I've also run dwc, drip and ebb and flow buckets with killer results. The drip, nft, and e and f dont require as much investment as you really need a chiller to run that rdwc/undercurrent stuff. Glad your taking a look at hydro system I grew in semi soiless drip for a long time and am loving having a cup of hydroton per plant for my growing media lol.

Ok so I went with this little dwc bucket. it fits 4 plants but I only have 1 in there for now. Ill get a new pic of the plant and how its set up under the lights tomorrow. I have replaced the straws with regular clear tubing for the air stone.

my question is should I be leaving the airpump on 24/7 ?
as of now my lights r on 18on 6off. and the airpump is also 18/6. so what is best for the roots. it seems like I could get away with leaving the pump off for 6 hours with out hurting the roots. the roots look nice and white to me.

If I may...

Is handwatering soiless with hydroponic nutrient solution out of the question?

This is a good question...

I always start my seeds in pucks or soil or something and then transplant to perlite/vermiculite in cups for a week or so.... before I wash off the perlite/vermiculite and put them in hydro.

Been doing that for 10 years and highly recommend it. Nothing like an already developed root system for helping a plant adjust to hydro.

When you want REALLY fast plants into hydro... 9oz cups with hydroton in the bottom and a 1" layer of peat on top. Sprout the seed in the peat... water by filling with water and holding fingers over the peat while slowly pouring everything out.

7 days after sprouting... water with 1/4str LUCAS (GH 0,8,16) the same way as before... do this 3 times that day. (Never tried it with any other nute... but even Maxibloom is more sensitive on seedlings than 0,8,16)

Over the next 3-4 days, increase the str of the nute solution each day till you reach 100%.

You MUST use full strength HID or other intense lighting for this. (or the sun? LOL)

Yes... it's possible to go from seed to full strength hydro in less than 2 weeks with no nute burn. Amazing. :)

Is that dirt?

You should have a plant that's completely washed off... nothing but plant and roots.

lucas 0-5-10 then i work my way up,

Do a search for "Ask Lucas" on the net and read that entire thread. Dynamite info on reservoir management, both simple and advanced... as well as the straight skinny on the whole 0,8,16 lucas formula. :)

First place for anyone interested in hydro to start. Answering your own questions generated from that thread will teach you how to grow. :)
