Thinking of curing in 1gal jar. Wondering if it works well, how much buds can u fit in a 1gal jar?

I use the 1 gallon jars that hold olives. I ask my local bartender to save me the empties.
I've never thought about how much went in, but there were never any problems with the cure.
Peace

I have a couple 2.5 gallon jars I got from target along with 1/2 gallon jars. Depends on volume of harvest. The 2.5g ones just have a rubber seal on the lid that just slides down over the opening. It's not a mason jar, but works great when I have a big harvest at once.

Gross. I love olives, but that smell would ruin it for me

I use the 2.5 gallon glass jars form Target and can get a little over a pound to a pound and a half depending on the strain. The rubber seal makes it great for curing. As far as I'm concerned those jars are the best bang for your buck.

I like my wide mouth 1 quart mason jars.

So tiny though. Few pounds takes a dozen+ jars. My opinion is anything over 1kw you save a lot of time using 1 gallon jars or larger.

I also like the large jars from Target, they are called Montana jars - http://www.target.com/p/montana-canister-with-silver-lid-2-5-gal/-/A-10620261

But the lid is not air tight. That actually works pretty good for curing imho but if you just leave them out your house will stink, they need to be kept somewhere with negative pressure and scrubbed air.

Ikea also has some large, wide-mouth, clasp-top jars. And PetSmart has plastic dog food containers that also work well if you don't made food-grade plastic instead of glass.

As for olive jars... I know glass is easy to clean but I can never seem to make a pickle jar not smell like pickles. Those types of lids are also not air tight ime.

Its all pretty relative, at least from my experience. I have found that I would rather start to cure the same amount in 3 half gallon jars than a 1 gallon jar, because I like to split the buds into groups(large, medium, and small), to at least get them all to the same RH. After that, they can all go back into a gallon jar for as long as possible. That is if it was a big enough harvest to warrant even using the gallon jar(an ounce in a gallon jar just isn't that impressive). Also, no matter the size of the jar, always leave enough room to lightly tumble the buds in it, because it beats the hell out of having to dump the jar to check how everything is going.
P.S.-I still remember when I got my first gallon jar to cure in from the thrift store. My girlfriend thought that I was crazy when I told her that my goal was to fill it with bud(I was running a small 150w perpetual setup at the time). Now, if it isn't at least half full I start to get a little worried:yoinks:

I like to put each plant harvested, into it's own jar(s) ONLY.

Not all plants are created equal. Sorry, Charlie Tuna :D

Same here,
Each plant in its own jar or two. I use the 1/2 gal ball/mason jars, and check the "perfect cure" sticky on top. It really is perfect for us small guys.
