Should be interesting to see how this one works out for you. At least in the US, the meter is the power company's property, and they reserve access to it. Don't be too surprised if they cut the lines at the weatherhead until you remove the cover.

with the huge amount of people already bitching about the digital meters ripping them off, your story would hardly make a ripple. no one will care except you (and me).

Smart meter guy came to my GF house and we we're all outside playing hockey and told him to fuck off and he did.

Said we heard about all the people that are getting huge bills and want to keep our old meter. He said cool and left.

I don't know about higher bills. I got my first one since I got the smart meter.
I just have a 2400 watt grow. They say I used 8% less energy this period.
Its my lowest in over 2 years. I see no reason it should be less than the last period.
There is no changes with my grow, or other power I use.

I still see meter readers walking around buildings with smart meters installed. I dont think that they have the infrastructure set up yet.

Don't need to switch your meter to digital, home owner is responsible for the meter base to the drop line at the top. Hydro then attaches the NSC to the can. I worked in a sub-division in Coquitlam and the houses on one half of the street had analog meters, they told BC Hydro to fuck off with their digital meters.

i was home when they tried to switch mine over, corx guy looked at it and said teres a sign and a bar preveting him to change it,he said no worries have a good day, that was about a month or so ago, this week on 2 seperate ocassions they have been knocking on my door and leaving notices, fuck em! funny thing is that if the smart meter does create a fire or mishap much like the link i posted a few days ago,bc hydro will not be liable for any damages caused by it,tha there is fucking bullshit, its gonna take a fire killing kids in the house to make a huge safety impact, public safety will then come into play besides the propaganda hydro is pushing

we won!

The B.C. government won't force people to get a wireless BC Hydro smart meter if they don't want one, but they are likely going to pay an extra fee for the opting out of the system.

Energy Minister Bill Bennett says the details are still being ironed out, but it is clear someone will have to pay the extra cost and it won't be those who have agreed to have the wireless meters installed.

"The 96 per cent of B.C. ratepayers who have taken the smart meters should not pay the additional expense of the four per cent who don't want one," said Bennett.

The details are still being ironed out but the extra costs would likely have to cover having the wireless component removed and employing meter readers to the non-wireless devices.

According to the government there are about 60,000 household that have yet to have smart meters installed.

Opponents concerned about health

The $1 billion plan to install 1.8 million smart meters across B.C. has met with opposition for several reasons, including the cost of the program, concerns about privacy and hacking of the systems, and possible health effects of the wireless technology.

Originally BC Hydro said all customers will have to have the meters installed because the system won't work if people opt out. Then, in January, BC Hydro said it would not install smart meters without the permission of residents.
what a crock of shit eh

- BC Hydro backs down on smart meter installation

But some customers complained it was still happening anyway and in April opponents of smart meters announced they were preparing a class action lawsuit against BC Hydro, alleging installation of the high-tech devices has led to thousands of health, safety and privacy concerns over the last two years.

the funny thing was just the other day they (BC Hydro) once again sent a contractor out the 6 hours drive each way to our property and did not inform the poor guy that we had opted out and wanted nothing to do with SMART meters.(nor did they warn him of our 6 dogs that protect my property.)

The next day as scheduled by BC Hydro, a meter reader came who was aware of the dogs, came at a designated time and took our readings without issue.

As well we have planned to go full solar and wind in the next year or two, just need to generate 30-40k to get off BC Hydro's tit for good!

Ridiculous. They force a hugely expensive program on us and we should pay for it because we don't want it.

They will continue to force this down our throats, don't think we've won. They have given up on this generation but know the next home owners will be dumb enough to install a surveillance device on their home that also leaves them with less power (literally, much easier to turn off someones power with a smart meter).
