I've said I don't want to keep cannabis illegal. I've said it and it's been said again and again.

I will not continue to speak to anybody who refuses that fact.

Period.

There are many people who I have respect for that I would wish to continue discourse with...

However...

I can't handle the stubborness of a very few so I will withdraw from the thread, as it's already a mess with back and forth carbon copy argument.

I don't see myself getting anybody anywhere with some attitudes :wallbash:

I've said plenty and you either get it or you don't.

My PM still works so I'll see some of you in the funny pages.

:thank you:

Thanks Mean for Ur contribution, I think u made u self clear on the topic. Reason why a lot are silent about this, its probably that it is politically incorrect to doubt about the legalization in the MJ world. Damn it is like u're seen as a "nazi anti MJ" just because u raise questions that none of the "full pro "no matter what type" legalization" want to answer.

But I think the subject is even deeper. And a lot of people go to jail due to legal alcohol...

You think that kids should/will ever be allowed to possess pot?

Ok
:jerkit:

Why not? A dad cured his 2 year old son from brain tummer with cannabis! So yes some kids can be allowed to possess and over 16 too.

A Southern California man was locked up in a local jail Sunday-- suspected of brewing and selling the illegal liquor out of his house.

Who goes to jail for possession of alcohol?

Dont be obtuse...
SELBYVILLE, Del. (AP) — A 35-year-old man has been arrested for making and selling homemade liquor in Delaware.
A spokeswoman for the state Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement says Reese A. Carey was charged with selling liquor without a license and other charges.
Agents seized 16 quart jars and three pint jars of the illegal alcohol from Carey’s car. They later obtained a warrant to search his house.
Authorities confiscated several items used to prepare homemade liquor.

in what state?
i thought we were discussing federal?
i did not realize there were exceptions for 16 year olds in federal law....

are you one of those free for all types?
thinking complete unregulated cannabis is ever going to happen?
or do you just enjoy the profits based on the suffering of others?
you realize when folks talk about "protecting middle class growers income" you are talking about DIRECTLY profiting from the suffering of others right?

Federal or not who cares? Monsanto and Merk are already looking at the Colorado market. So what can stop them? The 99%?

U is a bad minded blinded fool. And u keep hiding behind ur foolish arguments. It's people who think like U that divided the MJ community. Growers are not responsible for people going to jail for ganja! Are U stupid? Growers risk jail them self. Get ur argument straight, U sound like a stupid troll.

And one thing is for sure, as a American, U don't have no lessons to give about profits on others sufferings. Remember, USA born on two great genocide. :)

re-contextualizing
i never once said growers were responsible.
i said protecting profits with continued prohibition is profiting on the suffering of others.
i have respect for the concerns of others who fear a takeover by "corporations"
i have none for those whos concerns are purely financial.
fuck them.

Hey HempKat,
Not wanting to get in a pissin contest BUT,
I'm in a non-med,non-legal what have you, been incarcerated many a time, I can't vote I can't own a firearm. I work to pad my income, don't drive no Escalade, live in a two room shack. I probably sell it cheaper than a legal MFer.
I don't grow or sell this wonderful plant to make my life easier, just comfortable.
I don't think my agreeing with wanting to handle this "legalization" thing with kid gloves, makes me want to keep "profiting".
Grow on,Fred

Well based on your description you and me are virtually the same except I don't sell and I grow my marijuana for my enjoyment and the enjoyment of those I share with. Not that I'm criticizing you for doing so I'm just saying. I do applaude you for selling cheaper then most. Since we are similar in so many ways I'm guessing that's at least in part to simplify things where you know you can move things quckly and count on how much you'll make?

Unfortunately for this conversation people like us don't really count on the issue of selling. No matter who gets control people like you or I aren't going to be able to compete. Not against big corporate giants nor against well established commercial growers operating quasi legally and making big money already. We won't even be able to compete with commercial growers who operate totally illegally still but have stayed off the radar and are also making big money. It's going to be those people taking over the market. For people like you or I we won't be able to compete once it goes legal because prices will drop too low for even us to be worth our while and we certainly wont be able to keep up with demand. If we survive at all we'll still be operating illegally and our market will be people that for whatever reasons want to keep their consumption off the radar. That and maybe friends who know we need the income more then most and/or maybe they like something we have that other sources don't. The thing is that since it will be legal we won't be illegal like we are now in the eyes of the law manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance but rather we'll be the equivilent of street vendors selling knock-offs. So punishment won't be like it is now, more likely just a fine and/or orders to cease and desist. So really for the likes of us who gets to sell it is pretty irrelevent, unless you really believe that somehow monsanto is going to magically alter all the genetics of all strains in the world so that all pot is inferior to theirs or that genetics can only be obtained from them. That's been suggested and while it might appear that way with food agriculture it's extremely unlikely that will happen. A scenario like that is considered a monopoly and monopolies are still illegal and not likely to ever become legal.

If in spite of all that you still want to handle it with kid gloves I won't think badly of you unless of course you start sounding like you're okay with people still going to prison while it gets worked out gently enough to your satisfaction.

See that's the real issue here, not the income of people who sell what they grow. If I did sell I still wouldn't want people to go to prison any longer then necessary because I know what it's like. No grower or smoker should ever be subjected to a place like that. Growers and smokers generally are of a nature that long periods in prison are hellish and will likely damage them. Prison should pe left only to people who commit violent crimes like murder and rape because they deserve hell and are already damaged.

It's rare that me and dagnabit are on the same wavelength but in this case it seems we are. Like him I see no reason why weed needs to stay illegal any longer then it takes to get the law passed regardless of who controls it afterwards. Just because it gets legalized quicker then some might like and we haven't kept it out of the hands of monsanto doesn't mean we have to just say "oh well, it's legal now and they control it, game over" As even Mustard pointed out Monsanto is not all powerful otherwise they wouldn't have been able to ban GMO's in Europe. So let's get and keep our brothers and sisters and potential customers out of prison first and then fight for who gets to sell it and/or what the regulations will be.

I just find it mind boggling that after fighting for the legalization of marijuana for more then half a century any one would suggest now that we hold back a bit to make sure the money goes into what we think are the right hands. Also keep in mind that what starts out as the right hands doesn't typically stay that way. Alot of the big corporations we see as evil started off as small operations, sometimes even out of someone's garage or basement. They did things right, profited well and then once they got big and powerful they wanted to keep profiting well and sought out ways to buy out or otherwise stifle competition, it's the capitalist way in a free market economy.

Dude you are the one that compared cigarettes and alcohol to marijuana, just 2 or 3 posts before you accused dagnabit of doing it. :rolleyes

He asked the question of who is it going to kill to legalize weed and you snapped back with "cigarettes and alcohol are legal but they kill"

You seem to think if there is some way you are going to be able to legalize it where you'll be able to just decide to harvest your crop and with no inspection or regulations determining how and where you grow and with what and how it is picked, handled and brought to market. That doesn't even happen with food. The guy selling liquor out of his house only got busted because he was trying to circumvent similar restrictions and regulations.

The only way you might ever get to do things they way you're thinking is if you get the government to disband the Food and Drug Administration and lift all regulations, good luck with that. It's never going to happen. People wanting to make money off of things they grow often see's those things as evil when in fact it's the only thing keeping big business from fucking us over worse then they already are.

Legal my ass!

You kind of left some things out, like he didn't even make the liquor himself although he did add stuff to it after the fact (watered it down). The most significant point though is they let him walk on $8K of unsecured bail. Tell me, if they caught you selling out of your car and found lets say a pound or two and half a dozen ounces do you think you would be walking on $8k of unsecured bail?

MILLSBORO, Del.- Agents with the Delaware Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement have arrested a Millsboro man accused of manufacturing and selling his own brand of alcoholic liquor in the lower Sussex County area.

Agents said that 35-year-old Reese A. Carey was arrested on Jan. 5, while making an illegal sale of alcohol in the Delmar area. Sixteen quart jars and three pint jars of suspected illegal alcohol were seized from his vehicle.

A search warrant was executed at Carey's home on Bethel Road in Millsboro and agents said they determined that he was purchasing large amounts of grain alcohol and mixing it with various ingredients and selling it to various individuals. Several items used in the preparation of this alcoholic liquor mix were seized from his home, agents said.

Carey faces several charges including selling alcohol without a license, illegal transportation of alcohol, attempted to evade or defeat tax and keeping alcohol in residence with the intent to sell. He was released on $8,000 unsecured bail.
