Clones with mushy stems

I'm having a hard time with my clones. Some of them die off with mushy stems and others are slow to root. Can I blame this on the cold weather we're having? Is it time to bring in a heater in my veg room &/or use a heating mat to help provide extra heat?

I normally don't have a problem cloning and this cut usually roots fairly quickly. I can only assume they're getting cold and allowing the bacteria to go rapid. Which leads to stem rot. What are you guys doing this time of year to help with your cloning process?

buy yourself a little grow tent and throw your cloner in it. mine stays nice and warm and outside of it only 55 degrees

Ya low temps can lead to weak clones and fusarium ie the dreaded squishy stem. You can make a temporary tent with a tarp from the hardware just hang if from the ceiling, and put a heater inside sort of like a shower curtain. I live in the frozen high plains of mt and we finally gave up with the aerocloner because of occasional weak clones and we even had random failed clone runs. losing 120 clones really sucks! and it costs a lot of time and money when running large grows. We started using rw cubes under domes you can regulate the temp by moving the t5's closer or further. Throw a thermometer in one of the domes and your temp is always perfect. Overall we had a much better % of healthy clones and transplanting to hydro systems is a lot easier to boot. Plus the bottom of an aero 120 makes a nice rez.

Possibly, but honestly it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me that cool temps would cause this to happen. I keep cuts that are waiting to be cloned in Ziploc bags in the fridge, and they stay fine, no rot or mold, for weeks. I find myself wondering if perhaps something has changed with your water supply, or immediate environment, that has allowed a pathogen to gain a foothold. I'd want to clean and disinfect just to be able to rule that out as a possibility.

weak stem is rot taking hold, you really need to clean the cloner 3 times with bleach and hot water.
i always buy or make myself an EZ CLoner\. Its money well spent and peace of mind in knowing, I will never run out of clones.

cloning is an art and I dont have the patience to learn

I agree with HighonMt and Areo that the cold is the start of a downward spiral. I've been using the same cloning process for a long time with no problems until now.

I have an insulated cabinet I'll be using next to improve my results. I'll post back soon with any updates.

how is your PH, I just noticed i was getting some brown mushy stem, checked my ph, it was ultra low, raised it, bam roots. To acidic of a ph will also cause rot.
