root aphids wont stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi, I had the same problem. Hot water worked for me, here is the supporting document that gave the inspiration to try. Super easy and simple, no need for the big pharma crap.

Garhart, did you follow the Phylloxera paper to a T? I thought I still had that paper on my computer, but I can't seem to find it, or I'd attach it for folks. However, simply Googling hot water phylloxera will net many results.

What water temp, procedure, etc, did you use? Grape stocks are decidedly more woody and likely much tougher than most people's cannabis plants.

I tried dunking my 6-inch R/W cubes into 125deg. f water - the center of the blocks never got hot.

Next I tried flushing each block with about 1/2 gallon of 125 deg. F water. the temprature on the top was 125, the temps on the bottom was about 123 -124.

The plants weren't happy, but survived until they were watered with some water that was about 4.8 pH. - THAT killed them.

I think hot water flushing has potential, but accurate temprature control is critical. and every cubic centimeter of the root zone needs to heated.

These fookers are born pregnant, so 1 surviver means back to square one.

Flushing the used blocks with boiling water after harvest has given new cuts a boost. I'm pretty sure root aphids can't form an immunity to being cooked.

Yesterday I examined some dead leaves that were on top of the R/W and under the cover sheet, and almost all the garbage had large numbers of Root Aphids attached and hanging out,- so I cut some fresh leaves and placed a few pieces around each stalk and put the cover back. Lets see if we can find a positive way to identify an infection. I can find an occasional R/A, but only on a few of the plants - and almost all are showing root issues. finding so many on almost evey scrap I checked!!! OMG!

I've tried several Imid products and even when it almost kills the plant, the R/A never stopped - yeah they slowed down.

I'm goina go buy a gun.

And shoot myself.

In the foot.

THE OTHER FOOT.

pyganic 1.4 at 40ml/gallon complete saturation. follow up next day with a pyrethrin bomb to kill the flyers. i would do this before hitting them with merit or bayer.

So these things are hard to get rid of but not impossible. They reproduce asexually so only one mite is required to repopulate. You just have to be very clean in your room no litter or dirt on the floor and keep up the regiment phillthy recommeded even after they are "gone" we did it for an extra couple treatments and were finally rid of them. Good luck

Orthene and Riptide dunks at 5 ml /gal each. This is the answer. It is in the "Fungus Gnats or Winged Root Aphids" thread. The half life is very short compared to Imid but its for veg use. This killed all of them, and I know how bold of a statement that is for the root aphids. Ahh no more staring at your soil looking for something moving. I use this as a preventative on rotation now cuz those fuckers sure screwed me over! I can't take credit for this, I forget who posted it but its there and he did his research and deserves respect. Eclipse 420 and Bali man were the ones who suggested the acephate (orthene).

Be sure to clean thoroughly of course.

Neem meal, or liquid neem? Spray only, no dunking or other saturation of the media? What temps and other conditions go along with the 3-day application schedule?

I tried Neem, but I only have that Greenlight stuff that's really not worth much for anything except sniffing. If you like sniffing neem.

Bayer and other imid products did not work in the infestation case I had those years ago, it was the Triazicide. But I insist that I hated using it, still hate that I used it. I can only point to my desperation.

I'm curious if you also use sticky traps to monitor for flyers. I was able to eradicate 100%, and so haven't had a need for anything preventative.

bonide rose rx 3 in 1 neem is what I use ( same as greenlight )every three days ..saturate tops of soil, and plants in veg... just soil after 2 weeks of flower... it will get in there when u water... gotta emulsify or it wont work.. no sticky traps flyers will show when u water..

the list of suff i have used is huge.. this trumps em all..my 1.47% imid is sitting on my shelf lonely

no more flyers, crawlers... root rot or leaf drop... it really works!

You need a dedicated blender for that then, yes? Thanks for that information!

seamaiden I use an immersion blender.. that way I can do a gallon at a time.. cost me about 16 bucks..

have used neem in the past at a higher dose with no luck also azamax... the secret is in the blending.. also comes out more like a shampoo than an oil slick

so went with aza but i and tried to emulsify it like cyat said to and completely soaked everthing then set a p bomb to kill the fliers as philthy said and it looks pretty damn nice right now so we will see as the weeks roll on so big ups everyone for the great ideas ill keep you posted on this teq and the tweaks i would make next time

Try met as a preventive. If you have an infestation then clean everything out. Bleach your room and equipment. Set off a pyrethium bomb to kill the fliers. Introduce fresh plants that have already been treated with Met. If coco/soil then mix approx. 3 grams per one gal. pot( its okay to use more because met is non-systemic and show no toxicity). If you are using a 6 inch rockwool cube then apply to the top and also press some met up through the bottom. If placing on a coco mat then treat the entire mat. You should only need one treatment with met. Its a good idea to treat your plant with a folier to keep any fliers in check. Met did just come out with a liquid version that will work on fliers and is also effective on mites. A company out of colorado has the cheapest prices and they ship met anywhere. 214.335.9496. They will email you any product data.
