cheap light for hydro

hey guys was wondering if I wanted to grow say 1 or 2 plants via hydro what watt light is good I don't wanna spend £40+ on a light bulb as im a little skint and currently have a fair few in soil

If you still want cheap but fairly efficient lights go with T5 or PL-L (folded T5) fluorescents. CFLs are less efficient, I'd only use them if you have a really small space like a cabinet if I couldn't squeeze PL-Ls in there. Use 6500k for veg and 3000k for flower or even mix the 2 favoring veg or flower bulbs.

Look for a short fixture(2-3' long with as many bulbs as your closet will allow with it's width. For example they make t5's that come 2' long and 4 bulbs, and they also make an eight bulb one.
Home depot and lowes sell t5 fixtures and bulbs, for me it was way cheaper to buy all my parts there and make my own little light setup. They just got in new 2 bulb 4 foot fixtures with the bulbs in them for 50 bucks, buy four of these and have an 8 bulb t5 fixture an save yourself $100.
