Heres the low down...I use sunshine #4 as my growing medium

Transplantesd from a cup to a 1 gallon about a week ago...

I have water 2 times since the transplant... once with plain water once with calmag and some N

The leaves are now changing color like it has a def.

Personally i think that the sunshine sometimes comes fucked up

......................any guesses

The water I use from the tap 6.5 ph.....I never water enough for run off

First time i have ever had this type of issue right after a transplant

Batches can come in really acidic. Check one with some runoff. Im seeing mag and iron, maybe ph burn to boot.

either iron or zinc.... one of the 2, I thought it may have been light first glance, but it's not. you should always water to get run off every now and then, helps keep bad stuff from building up. but thats only if the plant is in the proper pot size, you don't want to water with run off a small plant in a bit pot, you will cause some big problems. definatly looks like an iron/zic problem most likely iron..... you really need to test the run off pH and see what your getting.......another problem is you shouldnt of fed them right after transplanting them, because theres nutes in the soil you should have waited a bit before feeding, not to mention you need to make sure they were going to be ok after transplanting. what mixture were they in before? same mixture? or different? what water were you using? tap ? RO? distilled?

I'm seeing Mg- definitely, but that pattern of yellowing on the uppers is pretty wild. Possibly suggestive of Fe-, but.... very weird, so the pH thing would be better eliminated as a possibility, at least.

How long did it take for this to occur? Were they 100% healthy before being transplanted? I see that odd pattern not only on upper leaves, but on what appear to be mid-plant or lower leaves.

You've got too much of something in your pots, when any stress or lockout arises, rinse with straight water for 2-3 waterings or untill signs of new growth occur; Then begin feeding! Not watering to run off is the best way for plants to eat everything you are giving them BUT, you should water to run off once every couple weeks (organics) and once a week for nutes. Also another good shout would be is that you should let your tap water sit for a couple hours before mixing nutrients. Chloronated city water shouldn't be a part of their regimen! A great solution called superthrive is used for stress/transplanting. It contains naturally occurring growth hormones and vitamin b. You only use 1ml per 10liters and they seem to bounce back with little to no harm done. Superthrive can be found in most if not all garden centers, walmart, homehardware, homedepot and so on

normally when iron occurs, it starts on the upper region of the plant and works it's way down, from what it looks like it looks like it started on the upper parts of the plants first with the way of the progression of it..... ya, on the lower leaves on some of them is magneisum issue, micronute lockout or deficiency, either way more info is definatly needed.

I'd like to see more photos, and I'd like to know if anything like this has been observed in other areas (ag, horticultural worlds).

well if you fed them and flushed them it was not necessarily the manufacter, because there is nutes in the mixture you just recently transplanted, so you are supposed to wait to feed after transplanting into fresh good soil because you could burn them, flushing most likely removed excess that was in there causing pH or fert burn locking out mag and iron.

i watered them in during the transplant with just water... as I always have done for years...

then the second watering... 4 days later.. I used my regular fert at 1/2 the strength the directions call for as I always do.

I really thought the quality control of the Sunshine mix was far, far better. So, at this point, you don't really know for certain what caused what you observed, and aren't really certain what 'fixed' it, but flushing resolved the unknown issue. So... maybe it's time to switch to Pro-Mix or some other manufacturer?

pro mix is the almost exact same as sunshine ...only difference is the source of the peat moss

Hummm... if you use the exact same growing routine... the exact same growing medium....exact same strain

out of 40 grows... 1 of them fucks up right after a tranplant...makes you say hmmmm

Same manufacturer, too? Quality control is important, I saw those pix and if I were in your place I'd have shat myself.
