Is this really how people trim? Really?

the way i look at it.. If you trim it wet, it will dry faster cause there is less wet leaf on it slowing down the dry time.... But in my experience, that long/slow dry is better for the smell/taste. I also feel like leaving the big fan leaves on when drying, kind of act as a protective barrier, even if i let the plant dry out for to long, the buds inside are still sticky/gooey. The big fan leaves protected the buds, whereas if i had trimmed off those big fan leaves, the buds themselve would be dry and not as sticky as they would be otherwise

The best fastest way to trim is......
Have about 3-5 fiskars sitting in a cup filled with rubbing alcohol. Grab a stack of flowers and start cutting nuggz off of the stem into nice lil nugz. Fill up a whole brown paper bag of nuggz that are cut from the main stalk. Now go back and start trimming all those nuggz and fill up another brown paper bag full of trimmed nuggz. Once your scissors get gunked up switch them out ASAP. Nice clean scissors are key to being fast. With this method I can get any where from 2-4 p's a day depending on strain. OG's trim super fast. And I NEVER trim wet. Takes to long and ruins taste and smell some what.

some of these hippies..."not showing the plant enough respect" etc....lol. its a PLANT. a commodity. we move packs of it. youre worried about a few leaves in your bowl? try rolling fat blunts day in and day out and tell me what you think of those leaves now. oh, not so bad actually being able to draw through the blunt now is it? smoke that shit and be glad you got it. what it all boils down to is you're a bunch of pot yuppies talking about "loving the plant" and this and that to explain your brain dead obsession with mutilating and torturing the plant to your ends. for God's sake if you really loved the plant so much you wouldn't waste half its product to satisfy your vanity. end rant.
 like a good honest rant':blowbubbles: if ya left it hanging to dry around these parts the rippers would love you. bloke i know grows' just for himself, bad back, ill health, hangs to dry by branches and when needed holds one end up and just hits it with his hand ,leaves fall off, weed falls into cigy paper, light , smoke, see fukin easy, old school, not a problem.:thank you:

SmokeTrees, def gotta agree.. A slow dry is as important to finished quality as a nice drawn out cure for me... Dry trim, ftw.

and yes those "sugar" leaves taste just fine let me assure you. most peeps tastes are so unrefined they cant tell a properly flushed from a hole in their ass, yet they believe they can taste leaf material in the smoke? yeah right...i call BULLSHIT

:smoke out: Hey frito, I agree. Pot yuppies are a joke.

dude .. im in the same boat. i am very anal abuot how my buds get trimmed.. now i only let the wifey and me trim because of it. i showed her the RIGHT WAY.. and it takes time to get it done right.. but still.. i had to buy a zip like a month ago from a friend who sells.. and he gets from a grower. and well lets just say.. i had to retrim my entire oz.. to smoke it.. because im a little picky wen it comes to smoking leaves.. i feel it takes away from the taste of the buds.

and for wasting.. no.. the trim gets tossed into the hash bag.. and makes amazing keif or hash. so i dont waste.. i think its a waste to fuckin take 5 months to veg an flower a plant out.. then take 5 hours to trim ur harvest? show more pride in ur work .. maybe ull be able to sell zips for a better price then! .. seriously i wont buy weed anymore fuck that.. all the other people out there no wat im talking about.. its all leafy garbage.. or its been tumbled to make hash then buds sold to kids out here..

I just remove any leaves with large stems when wet, them do the final trim when the little leaves get crispy, but the bud still needs to hang for a bit more. Little crystally dry bud leaves just pop off with my fingers when pushed kinda sideways.

i feel like the hash part of growing. is a great extra perk to growing.. so the more leaf i cut off the more hash i get to smoke.. lol and a better product to custys. iunno i love the plant. i like wen it looks amazing. not mediocre

My harvest and trim technique is definitely more thorough and I pull down a lot of weight. Like others have said I didn't spend months growing a plant to butcher it on the last day.

My basic trim goes as follows: I pluck all the fan leaves off and trash them. Then I cut the branches off and and wet trim the buds. I try to cut off each visible sugar leaf at the stem so the whole thing comes out. I don't do tons of digging through the buds but I will get in there a little bit if I really want a particular leaf out.

There are a few exceptions to that method though. There are certain bud shapes that I like to leave a little leaf on because I think it enhances the look. My purple kush definitely looks better with trimmed sugar leaves than no sugar leaves.

Too each his/her own though. I grow so I don't have to buy other people's buds which may or may not be up to my standards.

senorsloth, First i said it CAN make you weed smell like hay didnt say it would. Theres very few absolutes in growing, just way to many variables to growsing. Im not the first person to say this, ive read it many times. I grow platnium OG and its top self strain, Very dank stinkly. My friend grew a room full and trimed it all wet, When i went to look at it and opened a bag it straight smelled like hay. I was like wtf did you do. After several questions i finally asked how he trimed it. He trimed it wet and it smelled like hay. So everything you just said is straight bull. Just because you trim wet and it dont smell like hay doesnt mean it cant happen.
Trimming wet weed does nothing but save time.

so let me get this strait, your friend grew in a room(closet) once and now your giving growing advice on the internet?

its drying speed that comprimised the smell more then likely . only certain environments can actually handle trimmed buds. if u dry to fast ull be disapointed with any strain u grow.

i learned itthe hard way... but i believe that if dried slow enough .. the cure is only needed for half the normal time! for the same product.

Hahaha my girl and i saw him at cannabis cup 2011 and had a debate on handling techniques and fertilizer...we straight up refused to smoke the bud he was sharing, you could almost smell the urea or chemicals in it. I hate how much he man handles peoples crops.

Cant stand shitty trim jobs... Like the pic greyskull posted is legit.. not perfection but I def wouldn't think twice in buying/smoking it. But I've seen some reckless shit pass threw my way! and like someone said before if you take so long to grow it and take care of it how you gunna let it out the door looking like shit? Geesh... and for you big timers borrow/buy a trim machine. Ya some people aren't a fan but i'de take bud from a trimpro over some under trimmed nug anyday of the week.

I understand having much work to do but I just can't bring myself to treat my nugs like that. I tell the others if your gloves or hands are covered enough roll hash your touching them too much. Maybe I'm a nut.
