Cigarette smoke effect on plants.

Hello all, I will be helping with a grow indoors. Both my friends who live where things will be smoke cigaretts, tons of them, its like a goddam sports bar. We will be growing in a 5x10x7 tent and the mothers/clones will be outside the tent in their own room away from the rest of the house. Im pretty sure a little smoke will get in when we open and close the doors and through the room to room draft. My question is will my plants be safe from the cig smoke? Should I set up a closed loop filtration system aside from the open loop one exhausting from the tent, to make sure that their safe or would that work?

I have talked to both of my friends about not smoking inside but nothing so far. We have been prepping the space and the smoke continues and fear my plants may not stand a chance or that they wont do well.

Well that is no good at all, will any air purification work in the space or will i have to say no smoke or no plants, because I will move my efforts elsewhere if i cant sustain the correct environment.

A negative ion generator would clean the aer, but they do put off some ozone (although not as much as an ozone generator) which does about the same to the photosynthetic apparatus.

If I were to make a choice I'd say a bit of ozone put out by an air ioniser (negative ion generator) would be better than lots of smoke. You could make a designated smoking corner and use the ioniser there, as they are way better at catching contaminants in their near proximity. Be sure to buy one rated for ar least the space you plan on using it. Of course, the best choice would be no smoke near the plants, if you have that option. :2cents:

I will be sealing the room the tent and mother/clone station are, away from the rest of the house to the best of my ability. The negative ion generator sounds interesting, I will be researching...

I have a friend who claims he got Tobacco Mosaic Virus from letting smokers in his grow. Most likely not a good idea.

Use a cardboard box and a few furnace filters to build a filter for your intakes.

Use a couple cheapies to catch the lint and crud and then a high micron one to catch all the dust and cigarette smoke. Change the filters after a month and show them what they're breathing. They MIGHT start smoking outside. laugh

In my Opinion Cigarettes kill everything. You might get the CO2 But if second hand smoke hurts human children what do you think it could do to your Little green kids.

In agreence with a couple of previous posts. Why is there a need to smoke inside? Apart from stinking up the place, the curtains, walls and ceilings get stained and no matter how careful you are it doesn't stop clumsy people from burning holes in your carpet.
