Is it really better to take clones from top shoots?

What is air curtains?^
If i'm keeping a mom,I get tops.50-50 success.
No mom,I take a lower off the back 100% success
My moms usually come off a lower as I don't like topping my plants.

Bubble wand, air curtian... like this one.

along with their double outlet air pump (30-60 gallon) in a 1.5 gallon tub..

I've used rockwool cubes (ph pita), coco (gnats/ph), soil mix (gnats/ph). With the tub and 'air curtians' just tapwater, light and wait.

I don't usually take top cuts unless I already topped them, hope that makes sense LOL.

Pretty much if I had a from seed grown plant I will trim the top so it branches first ( toss the top cut in my compost worm bin ) and then once the new two tops have formed well I then cut that as a clone.

I don't like single cola clones personally

i hear that.. man.. wen ur using plants for mothers.. or scrog.. or even growing trees.. i love taking clones that have 2 shoots.. so i dont need to top later on.. and u get 2 fat colas per plant wen ran in SOG. so iunno lately. ive been taking everything as clones.. just because im going to root everything.. pick the best fastest growing biggest ones to flower the rest will either be killed or tossed into veg.

In my exp, the thicker the stem the more stored energy is available, thus a healthier clone. Obviously within reason, 1/4 in would seem a bit excessive. The simplest answer is the best shoot on the plant will make the best clone. But it all depends on ur application what ur trying to do. Proper cloning techniques is essential to a uniform canopy.

you are 100% right i dont take anything for clones unless thier thick and they are the main shoots ive had the best luck that way so i stick to it but i know people that do have luck with smaller clones dosent mean their gonna be as healthy as their main shoots though

yah see now everybody has a different technique at cloning i personally dont have luck with bottoms when i take clones from the tops i leave my rockwool almost dry barely damp and ill just mist them and let the roots try and thrive or other wise they will rot unfortunetly

i get good strike rates with fresh green shoots and older woody stemmed bottoms. the key for all clones is moisture control and good temps. lately i have taken a liking to do doing as puscifer has shown.

i personally like clones like this.. so instead of having to top later on .. u get to nice colas per plant.. its actually what i would say is the best way to start SOG Grows.. taking clones that will have 2 or more colas per clone.. will allow ur SOG to have only nice FAT Colas.
