looking at these damn HID lights is hell on your eyesight. i don't use MH (which they tell me are the worst), but when i wind up looking directly at one of those HPS, even if it's only for a second, i can still see that glowing gas tube burned on my retina for a good little while, even after i've left the shop.
what are you fellas and ladies wearing to keep your eyes protected?
after i noticed my eyes getting worse, i started rocking dark raybans in my shop. problem is, i'm in and out of my various rooms pretty regularly. the flower room is the only one that's bright enough for shades indoors, so i'd wind up taking them off and wandering back into the room without having put them back on.
then i got a pair of transitions. problem is, the ones that they sell you everywhere if you just ask for transitions only react to UV light, and apparently HID lights don't throw much UV, since they wound up staying clear even directly lit by a 1000 watt HPS.
back to the drawing board. i sent out for transitions xtractive lenses. they stay light tinted all the time and darken to 90% in bright lights, and they react to visible light as well as UV.
whatever it is you use, do cover your eyes if you're growing indoors. we don't need a bunch of blind old growers running around out there.
