Worn out tired ugly depressed lower branches suck, if ever there was a way to ruin your genetics this would be it.

Why clone a runt when you can clone some perfect new shoot it don't make sense when your a trained professional.

I like my clones to stay short and stocky and have cell expansion right from the base not some tired piece of Sclerenchyma with a dead nucleus dictatiung how the plant will grow.

Exactly. Anyone who has cloned on a retail scale knows thebottoms ate are a waste of time. If you want uniform plants, cut lotsa tops and select from double the amount you intend to flower.

i agree with matt dave their. lower cuts arent as good as the tops from what ive seen my self i get faster rooting healtheir plants over. all i grow is 16 plants in my room in 7 gallon pots ill veg for 4 weeks lolly pop them and take my next set of clones from the tops cause i top them all anyways and usually get a 100% everytime on rooting them

I've done the side by side comparison yr's Ago..Top cuts Vs.Bottom cuts. There is No difference in the rooting time. I will give the top cuts the Nod for being Robust and healthy once they take off. Most people are not taking cuttings from the Tops for the most part.It really boils down too Proper Technique and the right Environment...And always take more than you need Regardless of Skill or Experience..Word to the Wise!!!

I normally take cuts from the tops of my moms and they are healthier and bigger then cuts taken from the bottom of the plants.

To support this statment I just recently flipped 50 plus seed plants and took clones off each plant. So I can have a mom of what ever keeper I see fit. Since I was gonna flip to flower I obvously wasnt going to take tops so decided to take clones from the bottom of the plants.

Clones were smaller then normal, they may or may not have rooted faster, but they were not as healthy as normal and did not grow with the vigour Im use to after they rooted compared with top cuts.

In my experience tops take longer to root, and die more easily. Bottoms are shit, usually sickly looking from not enough light. Then you have the middles, and sides, my favs. When i say tops i mean the apecial shoot of the plant. i usually cut this off and discard. My reason, the next two "tops" that come up will have a smaller diameter stem which imo is easier to clone. Also by cutting off the top all my side branches turn upward(more clones:).
Now don't get me wrong i have tops that root too.In the end though they all grow pretty much the same for me after they root. On a side note all these forums i look at and such, what's the big deal with aero cloners? I have been rooting in rockwell and coco coir for years with steller results everytime. I love coco ,to see the nice white roots contrasting with the coir, beautiful to me it is.
So let's hear it who does the old fashioned tried and true way to root cuts, like i do. Oh almost forgot, genetic drift i think is possible, the degree to which the human eye can see, may be the deciding factor. I have a black domina that's 20+ years old(clones of clones of clones of clones, etc.) and the shit is still as dank as when my dad's buddy popped the seeds in the late 80's.

Nice i use bio-root for my water , and any cloning powder that's handy(the all work just about the same imo). It's easy clean and efficent.

There are some that clone in just a glass of water. I believe that top shoots are better in this case, I havent gotten any bottom cuts to root in a standing glass of water but have had success with tops.. as to 'better plant', never noticed.

nice ive never tryed cloning in a glass of water but ive noticed with top clones i dont know if its just becouse of bigger stem more surface area but i get more roots and they seem to get bigger quicker then my thinnner stems

I grow micro, so really haven't noticed a difference, top or bottom. Clone in tap water, 10-16 days for transplant to coco. I got time so for me a few days is nothing.

For production, I would cut for faster rooting cuts every time.

My sentiments, exactly!
I'll try cloning, as experiments, thruout the grow period. Maybe there will apper, the majic bullet. So far, the tub, tap water and air curtians is the trick I'm using, when it counts. 90% sucess.

What is air curtains?^
If i'm keeping a mom,I get tops.50-50 success.
No mom,I take a lower off the back 100% success
My moms usually come off a lower as I don't like topping my plants.
