If its plugged in its closed and if its not plugged in its open. Simple timer on 12/12 will run your ac flip just fine. I've ran one for years with no problems. The only thing I would reccomended is to buy the totally sealing kind worth the foam if you plan on using co2. If they are only the type that seals 95% of the way it will fill up the room that is off with co2 during night cycle

Just saw your link. You can seal up those kind with foam but I would reccomend a different kind I'd planning on co2.

Yeah but I'm on my phone. I just googled sealing motorized dampers and found a bunch in like 15 mins. Ill try to post up a link today or tomorrow.

Hi Shuswap. I've installed alot of motorized dampers for 1 ac and 2 rooms. Check out rsl.ca in Vancouver, they are like the superstore for hvac. Ask for Ryan, he's a good guy to deal with.

if the damper doesnt come with the transformer, purchase a step down 120 to 24 v from radio shack.

okay still in planning stages for new setup, now when using a ac with dmpers is it possible to run the co2 burner in the lower plenum alowing one burner for 2 rooms much like the ac?fan running constant in ac and each room having it own controller, any thoughts ?

I bought two 12" motorized dampers from Retrozone.com

I bought them with the badass Bellimo motors. Only motors to buy when getting motorized dampers!! Built like a tank and last forever!! Plus they only use something like 3-5 Watts!!:woohoo:

Think I payed something like $260 shipped for both dampers and a transformer. Great customer service there as well:tiphat:

Those do look better than the Suncourts I have. (as do the URD brand previously linked to).

The best motorized damper setups have a limit switch & contactor to control everything else. The timer energizes the transformer, which opens the damper. The limit switch closes, sending 24v to the coil of the contactor to then energize everything else.

You can even get electronic switches that will sense when the fan comes on, for added safety. First the damper opens, then the fan comes on, then the light...

Did you ever come to a conclusion? I have been racking my brain for the last couple weeks on what would be the most efficient and cost effective way to do it. It starts to get complicated when it comes to co2 controlling. I don't really want to buy 2 of everything.
