Just how long does European "holiday" last?

December 21 to January 7, I must admit I am jealous! ;) :D You guys really enjoy your holidays over there! I am wondering though, is that just a Seedbay thing, an entire UK thing, or an entire European thing? I must also admit it is a little frustrating waiting all that time on top of usual holiday delays. You see, I have a seedbay order that was shipped on the 20th, and an order elsewhere from a vendor here, which I can't get no word on but I shipped it out from east coast US on the 11th. Does the postal services take all that time off over there too? Does all of Europe? If so, I wonder how your economy can function shutting down for so long, but again I am jealous (and impressed and frustrated) and just wondering! thanks

edit: I probably should have checked before making this post, I did, braving the raging snow, and the seedbay one arrived, but question is still valid. If it hadn't shipped before the 21st, would it have been held up by Royal Mail until the 7th? And whoever gave me the unhelpful karma thing, thanks! :D

I am just wondering how the mailing system operates in regards to holidays in UK and the rest of Europe, can someone answer please?

I'd say the postal services were closed for a day or two for Christmas and they will be closed again about the same for New Year's Eve.

Individual buisnesses do different things. Generally people get xmas day and boxing day off as standard, as well as new years day. The days inbetween xmas and new year, it depends on who you work for.
Gypsy is a generous boss clearly.

I think it' varies from country to country. Here in Slovenia holidays usually begin a day or two before Christmas and end around the 3rd of Jan, but there are exceptions and some people have only a few days (or even none) off work. It depends on what kind of job (and boss) you have.

finally got snow here, and now bitter cold and sunny for several days before a slight warm up. I hope for more snow! thanks for the help everyone!

yeah here in the US, it is Christmas and New Years only that are holidays, although hotel workers I don't think have any holidays. Some employers may be more generous but not the norm. It is a shame really people seem to have less free time than the 80's and I remember hearing in middle school how we would all be rich working 30 hour weeks but that was not the case by a long shot! You need both, but free time is far more precious than money to me. peace
