this is EXACTLY why we need a general faq! these conversations/questions are being had/asked ALL OVER THIS SITE TIME AND TIME AGAIN!!! and its 2pgs already?! smh

its no ones fault and nooo disrespect to you littlefish but damn man this question again?!

(sigh) maybe one day, just maybe: (FRIENDinDEED)--->:comfort:<--- (WEBMASTER's) i guess now i can wait for the "you can go somewhere else"/ "there are so many other sites" speech.

None taken, and I wil leave you with this I have read FAQ's from diffrent sights and for this to be somewhat of a science, most post you will find the words "thats in my opinion" well thats why these questions are ask over and over. We have weed out (no pun intended) opinion from the science itself. While these forums are all based on experience, trial and error...etc. If you don't understand something a concept or a rule of thumb you ask these questions for confirmation and to get as much good info as possible. I truly understand for the experience this is a pain in the butt, If I had the experience most of you have and someone pose the same naive question over and over I would answer it a thousand times with a smile. I enjoy learning and teaching. As far taken my ball and going home, I'm not that shallow.

Wow - for someone to go out and spend ALL that money, just to ask such a simple question after it all.... AND to have the gall to be snappy at the reaction he gets for asking said naive question.

I think that all questions can be answered by going back and reading. Not asking people to find the information for you.

Honestly, if you don't know the difference between HPS and MH, you should have learned that first. Benig in the aquaruim "biz" would have taught you that, but...

HPS = red spectrum light = fall/ fading sunlight = flowering

MH = blue spectrum light = daylight = growth
:tiphat:

This is perfect! Its not about what I spent. I asked a specific question thats it! Also being in the aquarium biz I do know MH and t5's provide the best growth....nothing to do with hps nor to do with the question that was asked. And last I give respect to everyone I encounter and I expect the same. ( not directed to you greenpinky at all we are good).

This will be my last reponse on this topic. What I spent is irrelevant, And if you knew anything about the aquarium biz you would know that there is never a need for hps since corals dont flower and t5's/mh are a matter of choice. Once again I just ask a simple question that I was not able to do a search and find. Thank you all for the support!

Greetings everyone, I have a 4'x2'x6 veg room with a 600 watt HPS reflector. Can you veg with this or do I need to use flourescents?

I run 2x600HPS in my veg room. Seeds sit under T5s for 2 weeks, then go under the big lights. Rooted/seated clones go under the big lights right away. You can see the progression of a plant in the pruning thread in my sig, albeit it vegged with 2x400HPS. Good luck.

I have a 400 watt Hps that I use for flowering, but, i have vegged under it in the past, quite literally from seed with no problems, just remember don't go to close to the light, watch heat and temps, don't put them tooooo close or burny burny, especially seedlings. Atleast a few feet away with good ventilation should do it.

Thanks Simon, I a really cold basment, So I think I will put them on a heat mat and bring the t5's closer. Stems are getting long and falling over. I did not expect to get it right on the first run, but thats good info thanks very much!

When you did it from seeds how soon did you give them light?

I germinated some seeds once they popped I put them in rockwool in a incubator with no light. I see some of the stems now about 2 1/2 inches and a few of them have wilted. I going organic so I think the next step is putting them in soil and under light. thats why I ask that question.

After wilting them in "no light incubator" your 600 is gonna prop them up homie! Organic and soil will bring out the kush flavor! I like your style...

A T5 fixture would pay for itself in a couple of months from the lower electricity bill. 18hrs of HPS plus the associated cooling is a lot of electricity.

why not do a 2mnth veg under hps while vegging you can complete an autoflower strain! some only take 60days best of both worlds.:tiphat:

as cravenmore says above and i currently have 37-38 seedlings 1week old and doing very nicely under a dual spectrum 600w,,yeah,,you have to keep your eye on them but with enough care in ensuring the lamps not too close and temps not too high,,they will be looking great in no time,,i usually put them under the 600w after 2 weeks but had quite a few and my trusty old nebula fluorescent couldnt give me enough coverage,,in an ideal world or my next run lol,,i will add a couple of more nebulas but until then 600w is fine, babies will take a few days to adapt,,some will take off, some will seem unaffected but they will settle down,,,good luck and get them under that big lamp asap,,peace and regards
