Pro Mix going up in price.

Went to get a few skids today and went up $2 per bail and its going up 5% more after new years. I guess stores are gonna have to up their price so expect most to charge $27.50+ per bail.

Sunshine is still cheaper and then there's Pro Terra but smaller bails (85L) but quite a bit cheaper.

Holy shit! You guys are getting ripped off up there in Canada. A bail of Promix costs me $12 USD.

look to soil recycling... right here on ICMag.

buying soil (soiless) all the time is counter to natures way, not to mention expensive.

you'll be suprised how you've wasteded your moola.

recycling soil or making soil is a fucking hassle.

I know forum warriors get preachy and claim you can just grow using teas and soil you made yourself.

This is B.C though and I would rather treat it like a by the numbers crop, not a hippy drum circle.

Oh shit, my bad guys. found an old bag - it is the smaller bale. Ooops.

That explains the price difference.

My heads not on straight - time to puff I guess.

Sorry folks.

I'm thinking wildgrow must be thinking of straight peat moss unless he/she has some below-wholesale hookup.

exactly this:

the wholesale price on pro-mix and sunshine is usually pretty rough for stores.

Which is why American hydro shops push garbage mediums like Fox Farm Ocean Forrest so hard, so they can get a 50-100% markup instead of the 3-4 dollar profit they get from pro-mix/sunshine

You ever use ProTerra?

Yah its been tested in quite a few places. So far it seems ok no changes in growth/yield. When planting I usually get 30 2 gal pots per bail (85L) but I've gotten less before about 26-28 maybe I packed it more.

If people could be switched to non compressed the cost would be quite a bit less. Yah you'd have to haul more but I'm pretty sure it would be $5-10 cheaper per 107L.

Actually profit for Pro Mix is $1 For the space a store has to use to store it most just use it as a loss leader. Promix is fairly controlled by Westgro here so even on a container load you only save a $1.

I've been told out east there's not much price fixing on Promix/Sunshine so it should be cheaper or more profit in it for stores.

Prices here around the GTA are from 27.50 - 35.00. Those are the lowest and highest I've seen.

Fuck I laughed when I read that. Many of us in Onterrible feel the same way.

And its going up 5% more in the new years. Its greed and price fixing someone should tell them their ride is almost over on April 1 2014.

After the new years I'll be working with a company in creating a non compressed peat mix but first have to work out the packaging and do testing for several crops.
