I have seen these for awhile but not in the nodes like this. They look like swollen calyx. Nothing inside. Flower day 39.

From my experience, early orange hairs means a pollinated calyx... Maybe you have a small bit of hermi?

This what the bud looks like. Are orange hairs a sure sign?

no, orange hairs are not a definite sign. I once turned mine by spraying with Neem for Thrips. I really thought I messed everything up but turned out okay.

I do not know what is going on with your plants there but I can tell you that the colour change in 'hairs' does not necessarily mean something bad...

Good Luck

First of all, the plant looks ok. The calyxes are full size because they are older than the rest of the buds. You can even separate them, dry and smoke when you have no medicine. And the hairs will always turn orange when you touch them(I'm not saying you did).

Thanks for responding guys. With my limited experience it looked like male anatomy, I culled 5 males early on and it looked a little similar....lol! The first grow is a little nerve wracking, at least for me. As you guys know and I am finding out there is more to this than meets the eye. Good thing Im not working because if ya mis one thing in this game.

I see no dingleberries, no balls. I see the little 'first calyxes,' as I call them. As Eternal says, they can be smoked just like bud. I strip them from the mains when I'm trimming and they go into the hashable-kiefable trim (I separate my trim types).

Do keep an eye out for tiny yellow 'survival' bananas, those are an odd mix of male and female parts. The male flower is very clearly different, it's a tiny little pod that opens up hanging downward. When you look at them up close they're actually very pretty, IMO. Very distinct. Hermie-nanners must be searched for, so just gently open up or bend back some of the buds near where you're seeing the orange hairs, looking for a spot of yellow. It'll stand out if it's there.

Could be a 50 day strain. Swollen older calyx almost finished? I get calyx that swell like that with no seeds and red hairs. Strain has alot to do with it.

Those are just the preflower calyxes, and since they are older they tend to swell quite a bit earlier than the calyxes on the buds themselves. You are fine.
