My First Cannabis Tincture

Today I placed 1/2 pound of ground bud into a half gallon mason jar and added 30 ounces of everclear 190 proof grain alcohol. I also placed a 1/2 ounce of bubble hash into a 8 ounce mason jar with 6 ounces of everclear. I will let these two jars sit for minimum of 30 days. This is my first attempt at producing a tincture so any advise or pointers would be greatly appreciated !

let it sit and marinate.. It will be good stuff.. i like to heat the alcohol a couple times in the microwave before i strain the plant material out.. THIS HAS TO BE DONE CAREFULLY U DON'T WANNA BLOW ANYTHING UP.. i usually put it in for 20 seconds or so a couple times u will see the acohol boil, when u see it start to bubble i turn the microwave off.. I love some good green dragon makes ya feel like your soaring... As far as drinking it well thats a whole different story.. taste kinda harsh.. i like to mix with a really cheap sweet wine and shot it down.. good luck

No heat.

This process is called maceration, and you should shake it gently once a day. Keep it in the dark in a relatively cool place. After one month, strain it and use it. You will enjoy both for their different characteristics

I have been making tincture like this for awhile. Here in California we can not get the stronger Everclear by law, we can only get 151 proof version. So I need to hop on over to Nevada once in awhile for the real deal I suppose... but still my tinctures are very strong and many appreciate them.

Thanks for the replies, I was gonna try to make lemon drop size hard candies with the tinctures. One of my boys make some but you gotta eat three to get medicated, so I,m refining the process a bit, to get it so 1 does the trick. Yup Green Dragon is good stuff when done right.

Ya know, if you decarboxylate the weed before you get it wet it turns the THCa, into THC.
The difference is, THCa is not very effective when ingested.

This does not matter when you smoke it because the heat decarbs the THCa on the fly.
And Ethanol boils at too low a temperature to do the job.

That's why you have to let it marinate for months.

If you pop your buds into an oven, (not a microwave), at 240 F. for about 20 minutes, before you add the Everclear, the green dragon becomes an instantly potent brown dragon.

either way heat or no heat it works good.. I have made candies tinctures pills cookies the milk stuff .. I find it hard to make candies that one does the trick.. the same with pills. could be due to tolerence though lol.. post us your recipe on the candies if ya make some kill

Nevada apparently only allows the 151 proof, I've had 3 people try to buy it there to no avail. You can get it in Oregon and Washington State or online but the shipping doubles the price.

Almost exactly my first experiment with extraction.

My advice is to use a QWET extraction and just reduce the alcohol down to the desired potency. Your long soak will taste real greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen.

the second time i decarboxylated the bud in the oven for a few minutes and then mixed it with alcohol and tried the heat method. even still i had no affects from the tincture.

anybody have any suggestions? i would love to have a non smoking alternative like tincture.

U MUST USE HIGH proof alcohol knubs..

Mine always seems to work i let it sit 30 or 60 days.. u have to drink like 1 table spoons to really know it..

Without exception, everyone who has tried our sublinguals and orals have experienced effect in the range of 50 to 300mg, so there is hope.

How much heat did you use and for how long?

What are you using for alcohol?

How did you remove the alcohol?
