Corn Borers -- Prevention methods?

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with Corn Borers?

I have read that they prefer certain strains over others. (No clue what would determine their preference, smell, taste, thickness of the plant? Maybe they cant gain entry to bore into the stem? I am not sure)

I am looking to find a way to beat these suckers next year, my last outdoor grow attempt was infested with them and pretty much ruined the grow.

So what do you guys do to prevent them?

What strains are more resistant than others? :thank you:

Can't say, maybe if theres much dead vegetative growth in the early spring... Light a fire? Might sterilize it but i would not count on it, and it creates smoke so if ure close to civilisation i'd definitely wouldnt recommend it.
