I need pruning advice for my first grow

Just count each 'puff' of growth or 'node'.

Top is one, first one down is 2 and so on... if they were symmetrical it wouldn't be the right time to flip to flowering. :)

That will get you the top structures that look like the photo you linked. :)

Thank you. You're absolutely right. Please excuse my noob comments. :)
p.s. I DID mention bud-support will be needed... right? lol
Haha. Yes, you did.

(Strain: Mendocino Purps)

I have a question. I read the stretch is supposed to last for about 2 weeks where the plant doubles or even triples in size. I started flowering at 12". At 16 days into flowering my plants were 26" and two days later I pruned my plants. I'm currently at 22 days into flowering and my plants are 31" tall, which means my plants have grown 5 more inches in the last 6 days. Is this to be expected?

I'm now 29 days in flowering and they seem to be holding steady at 33". :)

I'll post some new photos soon.

Thank you all.

The speed and length of time of the stretch depends on strain first... then light strength, light spectrum, nutrient strength and balance of nitrogen.

Cold and hot temps will also affect the amount of stretch.

Lights too far away will increase stretch.
Too much nitrogen will increase stretch (good for huge mulit-pound plants... not so great for shorty indoor)
Wrong spectrum lighting (also caused by old lamps) can increase stretch.

Tuck what leaves you can away, prune the obvious ones that are blocking sites, prune quiet aggressively, any branches that are 10 inches or so below the canopy get rid of them
