solenoid/capacitor?

solenoid/capacitor?

Yep no solenoid. Its working great! Makes me wonder why i had one in the first place. A solenoid is used to keep pressure in the system, but our systems don't hold pressure after the pump. So i dont see why i need one in the first place.

Now that the stretch is all but done i will start to take leaves a few a day everyday!

The Sog table is tilted an inch from back to front so the system drains out the bottom drain pipe (first pic) down to a res underneath. im using the eco plus 800 pumps and each pair of systems will use one pump and one res. So 2 reservoirs and 2 pumps total. Should have the system plumbed by tonight and will take some more pics.

Gonna be fun!!

If you're speaking of a capacitor on the motor... running without one will shorten the life of the armature somewhat.

Been reading your thread. Most interesting and educational.

Did you ever get the slime thing figured out? Used to have a tropical fish store, new tanks would get a bacterial cloud when they were first set up. Running a Bio filter cleared the water and put the 'cloud' where it belonged,, in the filter system. Not positive that's what you've got going, just a thought from another life.

Also might want to be aware of where your water is acquired by the Municipality (if you use one). I used to lose live inventory big time when the city went from Res. to Well water.

If the slime is clogging your jets, you might try using a 'sponge filter' in the Res. to collect the bacteria from the open water. I expect that the bacteria colonies exist in the root systems and the plumbing, normally and that your getting a 'bloom' when you mix a new batch.

If the 'wetting agent' on the sm90 label is new, that could be a contributing factor. They would have added a 'soap' more than likely to make it 'stick' better, and as I'm sure you know soap is what they use in petrie dishes to grow 'stuff'.

Not sure how much of this is applicable to your uses, as I'm a 'dirt farmer' myself.:bump: Mostly just food for thought.

Back to reality after the drinkin festival. (it was fun and will do it again tomorrow for football) lol

So the USD plants are lookin good! I meant to snap some pics this mornin but was too late.

All this talk about dehumidifiers got me thinkin about how they actually work?
You would think that if you are exhausting with a dehumi in the room that the dehumidified air would just get sucked out....but i dont think this is the case? I think it pulls the moisture out of the air, and in the general vacinity weather your exhausting or not.

can anyone clarify this?

2legal... Im not sure i understand. Are you asking if i stopped using a capacitor or a solenoid? I stopped using a solenoid. But whats this capacitor you are referring to?

My pump has a built in power switch that triggers the pump (ON) and (OFF) at certain pressure points. ex; it powers on when the pressure drops below 20 psi. .. And then powers off when it hits 30 psi. (maybe this is the capacitor ?) So it always had pressure in the tank and this was all controlled with the solenoid hooked to a timer.

The way i have it setup now is no solenoid and the pump is hooked straight to my timer. (bypassing the pressure cut on and off switches.) The pressure going to the sprayers is almost exactly the same after initial pressure release.

I wondered if running the pump this way would shorten the life..but i dont really see how?

Also ever since i stopped with the sm-90 ive had zero slime issues, and the system is running clean.

Thanks for your input!

how long have you been running the pump without a solenoid now...?

so help me understand, if you are bypassin the shutoff switch then your bladder tanks no longer holds pressure either...? there is no shutoff at 30psi and kick on at 15..? it just off when the timer off (0psi) and then kicks on and goes straight to 15psi..?

honestly if you are using it that way and it is working and doesn't seem to be damaging your pump any..then I would keep using it that way..one less part you have to worry about...but I would keep a backup pump handy just in case

idk if you bought the 1hp from the beginning, but I have used both the 1hp and the 3/4 hp and I swear there is no difference between the two... they are both rated the same on the box and when I ran them in my system, they run for the same amount of time, repressurizes in the same amount of time, same kick on and off settings, same pressure to the sprayers same amount of water flows through the system... everything

the only difference is the 3/4hp is $30 cheaper....they look different but they operate the same... I prefer the model of the 3/4 over the 1hp... because when I had the 1hp, the pressure gauge was really inconveniently located and got in the way when building my suction pipe... at least with the models they have locally.. idk what kind yours is

good luck bro I am looking forward to your SOG grow.... that system looks flawless, I wouldn't change a thing

I misunderstood your solenoid term. From what you are saying it's an on/off switch? NO Problem. If on the other hand it's a capacitor, it serves to help the motor on start up. Without it the armature is 'burned' more everytime it starts to turn.

My mistake, I hope.

Was wondering about the slime issue. Guess I missed the change in product.

Grow on!

The slime issue... definitely the SM90, I also have stopped using it in my res, but now I'm fighting gnats. I attempted to fight the slime with pond enzymes which only created more questions/problems. I got dry enzymes and they don't seem to activate right away, and I believe the chlorine in my tap may have "killed" the enzymes. I'm curently running some experiments to find a use for this tub of zymes I blew $20 on.

Keep up the good work Farmhouse.

G..I think its been about 30 days or so without the solenoid. And yep, you got it right, no pressure in the bladder. It just drops to zero after the timer shuts it off. And it jumps up to 15psi when it kicks on.
So far so good. But i do have a spare pump ready just in case.

Thx for the tip on the HP!

About the SOG. I just loaded half the system with clones, and will finish up tomorrow. After a run or two with this setup im going to be buying some true high pressure nozzles and run this SOG setup as a true HP sog with the 50 micron droplet size and all that.

Check out this thread. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=15115

Now for the day ahead. I just picked up some Jalapenos, bacon, crabmeat, etc to make DHF's slap your grandma happy appetizers, and also a big slab of pork shoulder. Not to mention a shitload of brewskis! Lets go Fantasy footballers..im in the semis...i need a win today to be in the money! :woohoo:

I use a tater peeler after cutting the head off a good 4-6" jalapeno to stick down and twist to get rid the seeds , and then either cut lil rectangles for the pepper jack before wrappin with bacon , or .........

Cuz shit`s readily available at the beach , I go with cream cheese with the pepper jack cubed up and add the lump crap and baby shrimps......but....

Yas gotta go low and slow to render the fat outta the bacon without causin flareups and scorching if done on the grill......and.....

They do better in the smoker , but with the charcoal on 1 side of the grill and the peppers on the other for lower indirect heat but constant , they`ll make yas slap granny once dialed as well........I`m just sayin.... C`mon guys.......

If cookin , grillin , and smoking meat ain`t just EXACTLY like growin dope , in that the attention to detail brings the dialed results ?.......then......

I`m forever lost........Freds......:ying:.....

Thx for the tater peeler tip. I guess these jalapenos must be out of season cause i could only find the 2-3 inch ones. But it will work. Think im gonna just put them in the oven for ease. Later in the afternoon im firing up the grill and burnin some pork i have marinating. Devils in the detail for sho!

Fred were you able to see the pics?

thx G33

Pics lookin good my buddy , but I thought the food prep was more important....:moon:......

They`ll do fine in the oven with a drip tray , but it looks like yas can start strippin some fans and hopefully internode stretching will fill in although the sideways canopy looks awesome for still developing......

Once all foliage with a stem`s gone during late flower lights on , there`s no more suckin juice to grow fans instead of swellin nugs durin lights off till end of cycle.......

Pullin fer yas FHC.....and good luck on da Puerco grillin.........sounds like a plan......

Peace....Freds.....:ying:........

Nice! ive been pullin fans every lights on. I also got the temps in check. Night temps are within 2-3 deg of day temps now (78) and humidity is good at 45%.

Swell bitches swell!
