Although I haven't been there for a while, I've grown up in zh.
What are you looking for?
Good food and chilled relaxed smokefriendly place is the Rote Fabrik.
Meyers for late night drinks

I dove Lake Lucerne back some years ago, (great freshwater dive).
(I can't remember the names of the pubs around the Lake, but I do remember their were MANY and the atmosphere and people were great).
I bought a pair of hiking boots in 1973 from a Alpine Shoppe in Zurich. I still have and wear them today, (not all the time). And they'll last another 40 years.

Yeah for sure. Go to rote fabrik in wollishofen. Train stop is real close, bus stop is right outside the place. I heard they changed their rules - you will have to check - but they used to allow smoking indoors no problem. Just gotta deal with various people asking for bud off you.

Otherwise there go take a train to zug. Theres a place called podium thats by the lake and you can smoke there no problem, but only in the outdoor patio, not indoors.

As for bars. Well all the irish/uk pubs are pretty enjoyable, paddys near enge is the one I can think of off the top of my head. Theres some other good ones around niedordorf. Ask people where that is and you will find a bunch of good/chill bars. But if youre looking for something a bit more upmarket or trendy you might want to look elsewhere. Sugarlounge. Kaufleuten. Indochine. Mostly clubs, more posh sort of set up. Be dressed right or you wont get in. Hope that helps.

just don't go in the park around the trainstation! there's only turcs, albanos and other kanacks/jugos who will just ask you if you want to buy some and then threaten to stab you if you don't give em the cash ;)

Any updates on the places? Smoke friendly pubs, areas and cafes, where the local potheads hang out in Zurich? I suppose the growshops don't sell the aromatherapy bags and sil quai area is unwise to go due to safety, rip offs, cops and high prices etc.

Any help welcome, I'm planning a trip soon... What are the current amounts you get for a 50 chf? Is it easy to find decent hash or weed?

Zurich celebrates Octoberfest on a covered barge located on the west side of the river just off the lake. You'll come out smelling like a cigerette, but otherwise it's great! You might need tickets in advance on friday & saturday nights, other nights just walk in, but get there early. No one on the main floor sits down. They all stand on their benches rocking their beer mugs throught the night.

I am considering going back just for that!

All in all, Zurich didn't do it for me. I'd take Paris or Prague or nearly anywhere in Italy over it. But I did love the mountians.
