Serious Seeds AK47 F2

Hi everyone

I've just had a bad experience with some AK47 from Serious Seeds. The reason for this is that I got most "I flower when I want" phenos.

Some of the plants were completely immature at 10 weeks, because they prefered to grow their roots up to fill their pot before flowering, so I threw them up. Otherwise they would interfere with my growing schedule for other strains. Anyway, I had about ten grams of seeds from two males I selected and all my AK47 female plants.

I had clones that I could mature. Those were the ones I saved for moms, and started flowering for rootbounding as well, while in 18/6. The thing is that they reached maturity this time, and the results are very very promising. Flowery smell with a hard poisonous background. Nothing to do with the previous experience.

I plan to grow some of the seeds I made, maybe some can be as good as parents, but without autoflowering traits. Since it is a strain made from different hybrids, I expect variation.

I have planted 40 in coco, I just want to learn how to use it.

I expect that about 50% of the plants will be similar to parents, but without the hybrid vigor they had (heterosis).
About 25% hermies.
About 25% Plants that aren't similar to their brothers/parents.
An unknow percentage of rootbound-flowering plants.

What do you think?
Any bet? Have someone planted a polyhybrid F2?

Thanks in advance

I would say to not waste the time, money, effort ect.. in growing those out. I grew out their AK and it was the epitome of mediocre, the only thing it had going was the yield. Had one auto flower as well. Why mess with something like that when there are so many seeds/clones out there that will give you something far superior?
But I understand if you have the luxury, and just want to play around and pop a bunch of beans.

a few of the ak will auto. but noy fully. they throw loads of pistils in veg though.

ive grown out quite a few packs and they mature quicker than most. they generally show sex at about week 4ish.

You are right, it could be a waste... but I feel I could get something interesting. Or just the experience. That's it, I'm just curious. The genes in there are strong shit for sure, I just have to see if I can find a good combination. I can't be disappointed, since I am prepared now to deal with this: they will be the only plants in my flowering room. I wasn't prepared to deal with autoflowering aks when I grow them.

I would be nice if I could have them sexed before taking clones out, I'd save some space. I'm killing all males. At around 6th week or something like that. As I told, most of mines flowered when they fit the pot, just but one that was nice and strong but very little producer. 9 weeks, strong nice earthy flavour and strong smoke. Fluffy buds.

I'll post some pictures soon. I think the most interesting bit will be to compare their smells and smokes, but it will take a while. I plan to flower them in 1 liter coco-filled pots when they get 6 weeks old; probably some genetical traits will be observed when veg.

I expect to finish comparing around 10-15 females.

Cheers

my take on the ak is this.. im on my 5th pack now i think.

most of mine have had a cherry/orange smell in veg. easy to smell if you rub the stems.
a few autoflower. id say one or two in ten females. all of mine matured fast, and showed sex at about 4weeks give or take.

in flower ive had some really skunky smelling males which i culled. i had a few airy ones which lacked density. i had one beautiful female which had a really strong fuel, old school skunk smell which i lost through getting clones mixed up. and the rest have been large yielding, straight sativa/indica structured females, the buds had hints of floral, spicy, skunk smells some fruityness mixed in.

i cant stop buying new packs. i love the ak. it has good vigor, grows fast, produces alot if you treat her good, and the odor in flower is low compeared to the comparitive smell when dried and cured.
this is my experience from a bunch of packs though.

If I can get something similar to a couple of these you had, I'll feel myself lucky. Anyway they will be in small pots so flowering won't last much.

I experienced some of the traits you name on the plants, and also felt that there is something powerful thing in there. Though I couldn't make the most of it, I'll do now.

Let's see what nature brings...

some of the F1 Ak47 seeds that I grew also autoflowered

I remember reading somewhere that one of the traits of the strain is that they show their pre-sex flowers early in veg. So it seems like it is just part of the strain

I made some closet hacks with an ak male and it seems to have blended well with ssh, keeping most of the haze tase and potency but adding some weight from the ak. Good luck with your crossses

i had plants to grow it outdoor next season, but now it seems to be an overpriced garbage strain...how is it possible? and it has just a standard skunk smell? i'm confused..

Well, I really thought that it was an overpriced shit after 10 weeks of flowering. Now that I've extended my experience and had some plants mature I don't think that anymore. Still, I wouldn't recommend them.

I think Serious should reconsider to advise what happens with their seeds; and then get rid of those rootbounding-flowering genes.

I transplanted them to bigger pots (7l) from 3l ones the day I flipped 12/12, so they were just growing there 4 more weeks at 12/12. Didn't start flowering till they filled the pots. That's why I got shit after 10 weeks.

If you have the seeds grow them up, you'll probably get something interesting. I don't think the smell is very skunky, maybe traces, what I got was more like spices and flowers, other plants were earthy. Good taste and smell.

if you look throught the ak47 thread on the serious seeds forum here, you will probably see that your issue is not indicitive of their seeds.

however i do agree they need to do something about the auto flowering

like i said ive grown about 5 packs out over the last couple of years and i have not really experience what you are saying... the plants mature early and they show sex early. and the rootbound thing ive never seen with the ak

Did you take clones? Or you just keept buying packs?

That's how you see the auto thing.

For some reason I can "find the comments useful" only when I'm a guest, not with my own account... kind of weird, to have more rights before logging in than after.

I'll post more pictures as soon as anything interesting happens. But I don't expect news in a while, that's just the boring part.

Good smokes

yes kept 8 which i cloned continuously over a couple of years too.

but yes the best yielding plant i ever had, i cloned it, the original seed plant was fine, everything from it autoflowered.
so o hear where you are coming from.

but from what ive seen theres a few which do this, a majority of them are very stable and take a beating.

its worth noting that serious seeds claim this happens with cfls but not floros i dont know how true that is, i keep mine under cfl

I even changed the lights in my veg room from MH to HPS to avoid preflowering and I couldn't. I got most of plants non responding to photoperiod. Worse than the White Russian I had a couple of years ago, in that case I just got a couple of them non behaving in a desirable way.

Among your packs you could for sure find more different phenos. Maybe If I buy a new pack, I can find something better than I got, but no way I'm doing the same mistake again. Funny statistical game, it looks that I was the winner of this round: 80% of autoflowering females.

I don't get the point on cloning for years and keep buying packs. It is clear you really like this strain. Still looking for something special?

Thanks! It looked like that, but since I entered as a guest and I had more rights I thought it didn't make much sense.
