Garage grow, keeping it warm in winter

Ok, so my grow is in my newly build garage in the mountains of Colorado. For the warmer months im sure the lights will work for keeping it warm. But, in the winter, when the lights are off, what is my best bet on keeping it warm in the winter when lights are out? Small space heaters? Or something else? Thanks in advance.

well if its a good enough size grow i would build a wall in front of your garage doors, and insulate it. then you would have a sealed room an temps should be fine, hope this helps!

Are you heating the whole garage or just a separate grow space? Heat mats are good for warming only your plants.

It's a 3 bay garage with only 2 garage doors, the "third" bay, has no door and is an insulated room with an industrial wall mounted fan for exaust. It's mounted in the gable end of the building and 12'' ducting leading down into the sealed section to exaust it, 6400cfm. The space itself is 15 by 30, 9 feet high. So, plenty of cfms to change the air. So, all that being said, does that help you guys narrow it down any better?

Temps won't be fine in the winter though, when it's 20 degrees out and lights are off.

if your room is insulated right it will, right now its freezing out, and my garage is 64 degrees with no heater.

if your totally sealed and still having problems then you need some sort of heat, and possibly better insulation!

are you running an air conditioner or just venting?

space heater will work but you could also split the grow into a flipflop - so that one grow is always heating the other - this way you arent wasting kwh on space heaters.

6400 cfm? damn that is one strong fan - that probly can suck a J right out of yer hands.

Split the space and flip flop it. Space heater works though, that's my winter cure when it's cold but a little spendy. It's like running another 1k light.NS

Just venting, that big exhaust fan does real well for that, What I'm worried about is when it's 10 degrees outside at night and no lights are on. If they went off at say 6 o'clock, by 8 it's gonna be 10 degrees inside. no matter how much insulation I have on it.

Hey the flip flop idea is great, didn't think of that. I think I might just go with a heater on a thermo, just to see what happens.

Lol, Permabuzz, This fan is insane, sucks out EVERYTHING in about 10 secs, lol

I would build a raised floor. The concrete floor will sap the temps down in your grow. You need insulation in your flooring as well, and by building a raised floor this would help.

Any reason you cant heat your garage with your house furnace? I pulled an extra 10" line off my house ac/heat just in case for my garage grows in the past. You don't have to have a thermostat in the garage, just the added heat will help a lot. Good luck.

With that much room set up identical fliprooms with a lungroom to pump in and suck out "perfect" environment 24/7/365....and.....

As stated above , with flip rooms as 1 room turns off , the other kicks on where there`s always ambient heatgain from the lights on room to help maintain the lights off room......

Plant 1 room a month or so behind the other strain dependent and Harvey perpetually every month +/- once the ball starts rollin....but.....

Air exchange twice per minute and environmental equipment such as foggers/whole house humidifiers to maintain 70% humidity till after stretch , and then adequate dehuey to drop RH below 50% till end of cycle will take yas a long way in controlling bottomline yields in the long run.......and.....Proper watts per sq ft along with mini-splits for total temp control if yas can put em in the budget...or..Oil filled radiators with thermostats till able to upgrade .....and...

Lungrooms are the shit....especially if yas got the room like you do Bro........

Holler if I can help.....

Peace......DHF......:ying:.........Edit:......Good call on the raised floor in colder winter environments with concrete slabs......I always kept my plants on the slabs but live in the dirty dirty hell of the deep south and it didn`t enter in as a factor....anything to keep rootzone temps warm is a good thingy....
