yup yup yup.. December 21st is right around the corner...better head for the hills!!!!! LOL....
This reminds me so much of the ever infamous "Y2K"...remember that!?!? ahahahah

People thought planes would fall out of the sky and the nuclear weapons would auto-launch!! :D.....ahahah..too much. I'm surprised there isn't more hype about it. I think the media was told not to be as dramatic about it this time. People are so gullible.

Getting to the pictures, I see that no matter where you are, Fiskcars are the tool or choice. If those leaves get any bigger, you can use them as 'fig leaves' to cover up the family jewels.......Just like in the beginning, so it will be in the end...;)

Looking very nice and healthy my friend...excellent!!!!!

At this grow speed, it is quite probably that the December 21 to be the flip day  (but the AK47 will have the last word on that - as every respectable lady has).

But I intend to do a gradual flip, decreasing the light cycle 1 hour a day, from 18 to 13 (to control the stretch). I will stay on 13 hours for the entire duration of the flowering stage until the flush phase (last 2 weeks) , when I will decrease the 'day' with 10-15 minutes each day.

Regarding the smell, I couldn't say there is something noticeable and this because the leaves are now huge, they evaporate a lot of water and the humidity raised above 50% so the smell is not so strong. This is a fact I noticed on DWC grows : the higher the humidity, the stronger the smell is.

The carbon activated filter does it's job for the moment, as I don't feel any strong fragrance when I enter the grow room. The air circulation is also very good and the ultrasonic humidifier that I use also have a built-in ions generator, which also helps reducing the smell.

When I rub the leaves with my fingers, the situation changes : the Mazar has an undefined aroma, a little bit pungent on first 'inhale', but soft and tender. In the other hand, AK47 does not spread to much smell into the air now, but when I touch her leaves the 'weed' smell fill the air.

Last night I noticed something strange (just a little) :the pH didn't went down so dramatically, like in the previous days, and the EC has decreased with just a few uS. The pH dropped from 5.9 to 5.6~5.7 in both reservoirs, and the EC went down from 1.29 to 1.26 on Mazar and from 1.17 to 1.15 on AK47. This was the most insignificant change on the nutrient solution parameters on the last 30 days or even more and make me to believe that after training the plant does not feed, but this is not true as the water level has lowered with ~1 liter. The explanation could be the fact that the branches are now spaced apart from each other and more air flow between them, making the plant to sweat more.

5 or 6 of Mazar's tops have already raised their head above the screen but I did not trained them anymore. I let the girls to recover for 3-4 days (the top branches have been affected mostly by the bending) and then I will start to wave the branched under the screen.

Another think I noticed last night : the water on the AK47 seems a little cloudy and I don't like this. If it gets filmy than that I will change the water sooner ( not Saturday, as usual).

Hemp... dude.. you have evolved like crazy in growing knowledge! I remember a year ago, pictures of your plants were not that impressive, and I'm not condescending, I'm way behind in terms of growing knowledge .. but now it's like you could write a PHD thesis on growing!

I'm watching this grow like the best show ever! :lurk: Keep it up!

Quick update

Quick update

Last night when I visit the girls they look very healthy and happy so I took a few pictures to show you guys how the recovered after first session of training.

The screen has 6x6cm holes so I wave a branch under the net when it grows over 8-9cm long, otherwise the plant has the force to pull back, making the training a PITA and totally useless.

Here are the pictures (Mazar,AK47 and both):

7 weeks

7 weeks

Ok guys, it's time for the official weekly update of this grow.

The girls are doing great, I feed them with low EC nutrient solution and I did not have any troubles with pH oscillation in the last week.

The Mazar has tens of small secondary branches who will fill the entire screen pretty soon. She also show shy signs of sexing, as very tiny calyxes start to form on older inter nodes.

The AK47 grows slowly and it seems I will be able to flip them on first days of January 2013.

Normally I would change the water yesterday, but I decided to just top the reservoirs and to keep the EC and pH value at a constant value , on a daily basis.

The EC on Mazar tub is set to 1.32mS and it slowly drop to 1.28mS in 24h. The pH is adjusted with K2SiO3 (6%) to 5.9 and it drops to 5.7.

On AK47, the EC is 1.29mS and drops to 1.25mS per day, pH is set to 5.9 and drops to 5.6~5.7.

Mazar drinks almost 1 liter of water every day. AK47 being smaller sucks only about half a liter.

Nice there brother hempfield....:) Coming along rather nicely I see. Just a question though. Do you have enough room under the screen so when the time comes you can clean out all the low lying stuff?? Lollypop them as the term is called??

It's hard to see how high the screen is when you are looking at pictures..:)

Good Luck

I did not changed anything on my lights, I just took some pictures with the LED panel at 100% just to see the difference between blueish and redish

In flower I will have 2 LED bars (50W each - 30W warm white and 20W coolwhite) next to the main LED panel (15-20cm apart from the panel) , to supplement light on the edges.

The 2 modules will be rotated by 90 degrees on the blooming stage and they will moved on a daily basis from left to right for a better distribution of light over the canopy. Because I installed small wheels under I can re-arrange them in just a few seconds.

The screen modules have 46(width)x90(length)x37(height)cm . There is not so much space between the screen and the tub lid , just 10-12cm (I did not measure this distance- yet) , but it's enough to slip my hand under to remove dead leaves of un-wanted growth tips. The advantage of this system is it's mobility. I can rotate the module in any direction to have access in every corner.

I think I was to stoned yesterday morning and I totally forgot the reason for powering the LED panel at 100% : the temperatures are dropping ( we expect -20 degrees Celsius in the following days - outdoor, of course) and the girls seems to slower their grow as the air temperature stays around 21 degrees Celsius when the ultrasonic humidifier is set to 50% RH. If I power off the humidifier, the temp stays around 23C, but the RH drops below 30%.

I must hurry up with the DIY LED bars, as I want to have 24-25C with light on. In addition I think I will plug the humidifier in the same electronic timer which control the lights, to avoid dangerous drops of the temp on the dark period.
