I worked as a DirecTV CSR for a year... 6 months as one of their Tier II tech support personnel. Taking calls from programmed morons all day. I swear it was like trying to control a broken robot, over a phone line. Their programming (in their heads) was all messed up and nearly everyone I spoke with had serious issues with a lot of things they shouldn't.

Killed me every time I had to ask them what "programming package" they wanted. LOL F-ing drones.

Anyway... TV is just a bunch of subliminal programming and manipulative crap. And that was 20 years ago when I quit watching it, it hasn't gotten any better.

I don't see the problem with it.... in the same way that ethnic minorities should be able to see "themselves" in popular TV shows(and not in a token black guy sense), so should men who like cock and ladies who don't. It takes all sorts.

I tend to be a bit touchy about the gay thing sometimes, my good friend from school killed himself a few weeks after coming out and being disowned by his entire family and most of his friends. He was 15.
I disagree that it's about shock factor...shows depict life, and in life there are gays and gays kiss and fuck just like everyone else does, hence the televisual depiction of said kissing and fucking.

They wouldn't put it on tv if they didn't think it would generate buzz/ratings which in the end leads back to advertising dollars. They are trying to cash in on the evolution of social views on gay marriage/relationships/etc. Its a topic that has been receiving alot of attention lately, and society in general is becoming more accepting of it.

I don't enjoy watching two dudes kiss, so I'll choose not to. But hey its a free country right? I just hope the trend of weed becoming more acceptable continues... and it will.

I guess they're not so much going for the shock value by itself as in more "if you wanna see even more outrageous shit, just watch us". More the advertisers must think getting people to watch their shit by any means is needed. Results justify the means apparently. Just garbage. Then if I'm sitting there next to my 6 year old Granddaughter and she asks me what's that all about, I guess I should say,"They're just cleaning each others teeth honey" I really couldn't care less though if men kiss men, or women kiss women. To each their own. I just think somethings should remain private between consenting adults.

Just doesn't matter or bother me at all. but it seems like the producers of nearly all the prime time shows are doing everything they can through innuendo, implying, even referring to golden showers, and glory holes on 2 Broke Girls a couple of weeks ago. I remember when you could sit down with your family, have a laugh and some quality family time without having to explain away what a "glory hole", or "the man in the boat" is to your 8 year old son or daughter. They are putting it all in your face with no respect towards the viewer. Quite disguising but I guess it's the "new" way of institutionalizing our youth.

The only possible thing worse than explaining it to an 8 year old, is explaining it to a 40 something year old...

There was a place I was living recently where gay men were in public parks exposing themselves and agressively hitting on other men in the park. Not cool.

When I was younger, I was hit on by gays my age and older dirty men every so often. Unsettling and at first, I was concerned that I seemed or looked gay. But as I have gotten older, less unsettling and more of a compliment I guess.

Funny story, I recently went to this kick ass music festival where there were many LGBTs. No body was making out or anything. I did see some shows of affection on occasion but nothing gratitutus. Anyway, one morning after all the acts were over and all the after parties in the field / parking lot were on, I was chilling and mingling with these two good looking pretty boy 20 sumtins and one refered to me as straight bait.

Now that threw me a bit, although I kept my poker face cool. LoL.

I guess I am still a stud muffin. BOL.

PLUR to all regardless of race or sexuality. Just dont dangle the diggler when I am in the park exercising or enjoying a nice day.

In fact, I will volunteer to lead a crack squad of hand picked 25 year old hot naked women to chase out the gay guys showing their weiners in the park. It will be a sacrific and a challenge but I will do it for the community at large.

And as others have mentioned, I dont own a TV, and don't watch it much when I am out and about.

listen, you reek of prejudice and hypocrisy. Since when Is two men showing affection/kissing "outrageous?" There are plenty of gay/lesbian/tolerant humans out there in the demographic, the bloodsucking TV producers are just taking advantage of it for ratings.

I'm familiar with these shows but have not seen more than a commercial or two. I sure as hell have seen two men kissing in real life as well as in movies, and I could care less. I would rather not watch Sex In The City, but I'm not gonna start a thread about how much I hate Sarah Jessica Parker, ya Dig?

And If a parent isn't ready to explain the difference between homosexual LOVE and heterosexual LOVE is(hint, there is no difference) then they are a shitty parent. I am in no way judging you as a grandfather, but it would be very easy to explain to your grand daughter about two men who "Love" each other. You just tell her "In life, some people are born attracted to their own sex, and there is nothing wrong with that." Why would it be bad to instill tolerance in a child at a young age?

Besides, 80% of TV on after 8pm is inappropriate for any child young enough to not know what being gay means.

humans learn more than anything by watching other humans, its a specific type of learning and all animals have their own path to accumulate the knowledge they require to survive..

since humans are born more helpless than any other animal and need a longer maturation period it is even more important that the youth is guarded for the benefit of society on the whole and as individual cultures.. but today obviously we somehow feel that letting the medes(ancient people where the word media comes from) free roam of our childrens brains and our own is ok..

every day we all fight bad thoughts, it is how we gain more and more control over the "self" or the other self to be more exact which is also called the ego.. but the next generations are encouraged to look like little grim reapers, tattooed up and dressed in black, to look at sexual content whenever they want, blood gore on C.O.D etc.. and worst of all is technology steals little girls innocence and the moral standard of the human race is basically decided by our women..

i could go on about manipulation of the lower self through making the lower sense desire more and more... its little things like a KFC advert showing steaming chicken at 11pm, that image fired into your brain empowers your stomach which is patched into to most basic part of the brain, you are barely a observer only there at the end to say "no stomach you arent having anything"..
