rockinlespaul, philthy,
Does this sound like it?
Very unique soaring high. Pure pine. extremely sticky, bone dry but resinous sticky like sap.
The smell was so much like that of pinesol, it was overwhelming strong along the lines of "wtf how is that even possible".
I swear it had to have been soaked in pinesol it smelled EXACTLY like it. However once smoked it took on a totally natural pure and intense pine taste and smelled like straight pine sap. 100% unique high.
oddly this small batch had a very bland appearance, very dark green/brownish and thought at first to be just "really good mids/brick" but quickly realized it was very very special.

Could it have been snowcap?

I've been lucky enough to flower out some older seed that nearly matches your description. I have run her three times, I'm really liking the smoke.

What is snowcap anyway, any history would be welcome.

I have also been in search of the pine. Got a few Snowcaps showing roots in the cloner and they will soon be flowered. Currently smoking on some oil that was made from 120day Ace Seed's Green Haze x Thai that smells and tastes like your sucking on pine sap. Its ridiculous! I hope the snowcap tastes like it! I think it would be a good flavor combo with OG.

That "Pine" scent can be found in the correct cutting of old Romulan Joe's Romulan.

I have been breeding Classic Seeds Romulan toward that Pine scent for about a year and a half solid. The Pine is there yet it still has a grape undertone.

Also I bred my C-99 (Pummelo-99) away from the Pineapple and Grapefruit as I had a Orange Peel/Pine female that I really liked and have bred towards her. So my C-99 (Pummelo-99) has Pine.

The "Pine" is there in both.

Many Blessings,

I remember that "Pine" tasting and smelling weed. It was good too.Nice up high.Mine was sourced from my older brother @ 1979-1983. Wish I still had some of the seeds I cleaned out of it.

interesting. is this an indica trait, cause that's pretty much what i get from several different hybrids...? with undertones of fruit, sandalwood.

Is the pine flavour a trait found in indicas, sativas or both?
I thought this smell was more likely to be found in indicas, i think i read it somewhere.

Also I remember smoking this brazilian Santa Maria pot in Amsterdam which had a piney taste and is supposed to be indica... but again, I'm not too sure if a brazilian landrace could be indica (and don't even know if this Santa Maria is a brazilian landrace).
As you can see, I am lost in confusion and ignorance. :dance013:

Nice to see so many people looking for that old school pine. Its been too many years since Ive gotten stuff like that. I used to get it in the late 80's when the commercial around here was pretty good.
I find it interesting that so many indica strains are being referred to as I remember it being more up and social with only some body buzz. Lets say 75 sativa/ 25 indica maybe. Of course I really cant be sure. Id love to find some of that again - at least to see if Im romantasizing the smoke of the past - which we often do.

Yup, I smoke to get high, so I look for/grow cannabis that suits my taste. If its too body/couchlock, I move on. Lucky me when I sprouted some beans found in the fold of a double LP. Circa 1979.

Pine, and awesome daytime smoke, social and up. Old school, yup. Couldn't do it again if I tried. Did not know about seeds being too old, just germed and got a keeper.

You never know. That's romance.

When you all say snowcap are you saying the old school snocap with no w in it or the newer indica snowcap? The old snocap had a lovely sweet pine smell to it. Was wondering what the new snowcap was like cause some cuts are going around and might grab a couple if it is piney like you all say. Thanks!

The most significant smell in terms of herb to me is the pine. I remember early to mid 90s, my dope man ( KC and the sunshine bands) kid had bags of the most piney, christmas tree smelling bud I have ever been aware of. To this day, thats the first aroma I wish for.
Never have smelled anything like it to this day. I also recall walking into my guys house and the whole band was standing in front of this bed. I glanced over as we walked by and there were some of the largest colas I have ever seen laying on the bed. Anyways..PINE! Wish I could find it.

Current hash plants on the market, do they give off the Pine?

I dont no how relivent this is but I was getting some buds of my friend who grows in soil that tasted really piney. I grabbed some seeds of him and grew them out in coco and not a single one tasted piney. I have heard in the past rumors of certain flavors only coming out in soil grown.

This is very relevant. Taste can be dramatically affected by the grow medium/feeding schedule to the point of being unrecognizable as the same pheno/clone of the same strain. I had a pheno of Sadhu(now discontinued unfortunately) that I underfed as a newb that I put on elite level pine flavor/smell. All it had originally was hardware store mushroom compost and dolomite lime in peat/perlite with maybe 3-4 feedings of pure blend pro. But when I properly mixed in dry organics(bone, blood, kelp) for macros, it turned out like dark coffee/unsweetened dark chocolate with not a trace of pine, pretty much ruining the flavor despite increasing smell and yield.
