^^^ I have a friend who is good with carpentry...if I get him to build me a 15x15 inch box that's 22 inches tall....would that fan be enough to vent a 50 watt hps through a DIY carbon filter? Or should I stick with the two 42 watt cfl's that I already have?

Secondly, I would like to know...how much of a difference will I see between using two 42 watt cfl's -vs- a 50 watt hps? would the results be majorly different?? I would like to try to circle-scrog 1 plant

That fan I posted the link to claims to be 110 cfm....how big of a HPS would that vent with carbon filter in place? Also, should I get the square cut in the box just slightly smaller than the fan so the screws go a couple millimeters from the edge of the cut? Does that seem like it would attach properly to a wood box?

when u r moving air through something like a carbon filter you need to check for STATIC PRESSURE this is much more important than CFM in this case

i've done a lot of research now and im quite sure the Scythe Gentle Typhoon is ahead of all other 120x120x25 fans.

i can see you want to go with a 35mm model there but i really cant tell you how good this will work, just have a look on static pressure because the fan will have to push/pull through extremely dense material (the carbon..)

what the hell you cant edit?!

sorry for the doubble post but what i wanted to add is that of course there are stronger fans than the gentle typhoon but this fan moves quite some air even at 1,5k RPM and this thing is available through 5,4k rpm and is running "silent" as far as something can be silent at this much RPM

I would second the 50 watt hps. You will get much denser buds, and a higher yield. There are cons tho in that the hps will kick out ALOT more heat, the cfls might be better in the sense you wont need as much ventilation. You should check out "endur" he has alot of expierence with small cab construction and some very detailed threads.
