Hey there everyone,
I got a job offer on Monday to work full time at a what seems to be a laidback IT office but I'm still very nervous. Who here thinks taking a rip/ getting baked before work is a good idea?

Hold back until you know what the job's like and are certain that you can handle it. Years back on one of the first days in a new job I did what I used to then - loaded volcano bowl with loose kief and some bud, had a few huge rips and went to work... ended up being pulled to a meeting with the bosses, so high I could barely function. Did ok though

Yep. I'd get used to the routines sober, then think about getting high. But suit yaself.

Congrats on the job, too. Seems they are hard to come by these days.

Oh for sure thanks. Been unemployed for 6 months after quitting 7 eleven so it's a nice change. I was considering to quit for my probation period, but I started smoking weed 4 years ago and haven't quit for longer than 15 hours lol

I second this. If you can troubleshoot LAN/WAN/Software/Computer "stuff" while high, then go for it. As for me...I can't do it. I need to keep a clear head and when I get high my brain turns to mush **giggle**. I also have to climb towers and OSHA would frown upon that if I were to have an accident.

Since your a seasoned smoker, a couple rips might just take the edge off ... try always to do the best you can for the situation...high or not....an employee needs to be a benefit to their employer. Thats the bottom line.

if you need the job real bad, and you are one of those folks, who get too spaced out after smoking, i'd vote against... best bet is, show up sober and scout the situation... day 2 as mentioned before is a good guidline

My condolences!
I just convinced my boss to let me work from home, so now I only have to drop in to the office once a week. Thank god! I hate offices. If you feel like that too maybe you could try the same since youre working in IT.
Personally I dont get high before work aynmore I think its unprofessional.

I found for me to work and enjoy it I need as slight buzz. Slight. So high that you talk nonsense or look ripped is not good. You just want to get so much of a buzz that you can do boring things and stay interested.

In my job most of my time is reading or doing research. I am an art broker/dealer. My clients range from the ultra-hip rock star wannabes to the elderly lady looking for something to brighten up her living room. They may expect me to be a stoner, but we have a business to run. I have to have my facts about anything they want to talk about at the tip of my tongue. I have made a lot of money for my store and am personally responsible for expansion into another state, so I must be doing something right. I think having studied art in South and Central America helps, as that is what I am usually pushing. I make more money off of that stuff because that is what I broker.

At any rate, you just have to know when to say when, if you care about the job. Being too stoned or too lazy, not giving a shit will reflect on you.

I take a couple hits before work every day, just to take the edge off and I'm pretty successful at what I do...part of my deal is IT related as well... The owner of our company smokes as well though...

Hell, I have a friend that is IT guy for a large company that smokes 2-3 times what I do and he is one of the best at what he does...and he's been doing it for 20 yrs...

I'm in IT and have no trouble working totally stoned/high/ripped.

Lot's of stoners work in IT, pot encourages creativity.

But for your 1st day on the job I'd stay straight and check out the scene, mainly because of the potential paranoia problem.

it may not be the most reccommended way to travel, but teemu knows what the fuck it up.

the last 2 jobs that i had, i went thru the interviews high as a motherfucker. i figured if they are used to seeing me high then they wont knwo the difference high or sober. that makes going in high so much easier....

that said i never got high on the clock.

I share this experience. How you start is how you finish no matter what job. If you do it all high even interviews then that's how you must do it forever. If you have ever done it sober for at least 35% of the time you've been working there you better stick to sober.

oh I was so sketch when I started working there but after 3 months I found out more than half the staff AT LEAST smoke weed when it comes to the recreational drug use department lol
