Feds Haven't Weighed in on Washington, Colorado Pot Legalization

I think if it had only been one state, we would see something from the feds, but two separate states kinda changes the dynamic for them.
I didn't expect both states to legalize, I was hoping one would squeak it by, but I wasn't holding my breath after prop 19 failed.
Two whole states worth of people may be a bit more then they want to piss off by trying to step on the will of the voters.

With all the underhanded, unpopular stuff our government gets up to, they need bread and circuses to keep the people distracted and placated, and I think legal weed is just the ticket, and they know it.
So while there may be a little show of force against a small number of big ops that arise out of the new legalization, I think for the most part they will just sit back and let it ride.

I think it has less to do with how many states and more with which ones. I didn't think of this before but the only states we need to legalize are the "swing" states. Neither political party is willing to give up the swing states to the other. Maybe they team up but whoever makes that suggestion gets the blame R or D.

Another example of how the political system creates areas of more influence and areas of less and what state you live in shouldn't matter. a vote is a vote is a vote

Except people in swing states get thier issues discussed and people in "traditionally one party" states get ignored.

UN wants to fuck everything up. (like usual)

The head of the U.N. drug watchdog agency is urging U.S. federal officials to challenge ballot measures in Colorado and Washington that decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana for adults 21 and over.

Raymond Yans says the approvals send "a wrong message to the rest of the nation and it sends a wrong message abroad."

Yans heads the International Narcotics Control Board. He told The Associated Press on Tuesday he hopes Attorney General Eric Holder "will take all the necessary measures" to ensure that marijuana possession and use remains illegal throughout the U.S.

Both states are holding off on plans to regulate and tax the drug while waiting to see whether the Justice Department will assert federal authority over drug law.

The INCB has no enforcement ability.

Nobody listens to the U.N.

:yeahthats

IMHO the feds will stay out of things until the DA's in the surrounding states start bitching about all the "legal" weed being shipped into thier states ......... and again all the growers exporting the stuff will start crying about the feds being dicks.

THEY ARE DICKS !!!!!! but when things start crossing state lines they are going to get involved ......... again.

i'm happy as hell that weed is getting closer to being legal, but there are going to be some more bumps in the road (or would dips in the road be more accurate) :chin:

Nobody listens to the U.N.

UNLESS the UN mandates meet the desires of the political wills of the countries/people their directives effect. In this case, especially since the US is the biggest supporter of that bullshit terrorist organization, I see the feds using the UN LEOs words, in this case. And again, they listen ONLY when politically expedient, this is their out, and they can shift any blame and outcry toward the UN, and "How the world really feels about this";-P Its ALL a bullshit money game, run by fat-cats. More bullshit from Holder coming soon. DUCK!

Anyone else here watch Boardwalk Empire? I need to watch it from the beginning, but I've got a friend who, every time we talk about MMJ and legalization, says I should watch it. I saw an episode last night and they had a BRUTALLY graphic scene of violence that I couldn't watch. But I also know--that's how it was. And in some places that's how it IS. Which reminds me that I have lived a blessed life.

fyea. A great representation of the backstabbing that occurs in high profit high volume trafficking. I bet the cartels are experiencing some of this extreme prohibition drama right now with all that money to go after and the recent fed crackdown..

^^Boardwalk empire is a great show for depicting why prohibition of any sort does not work.

I believe the feds will initially leave the states be. I am just concerned about how they will react when mass quantities start showing up in other states. Seeing as they have the power to regulate interstate commerce. Hopefully if that is the case, they will just go after the growers that are skimming some off destined for more lucrative markets. Don't get me wrong, I think cannabis should be treated the same as any number of other herbal remedies (not regulated) but that is not the world we live in. At least in Colorado with the 24/7 live feed cameras and such, hopefully they will be satisfied that it is staying within the borders of Colorado. It seems to have kept the feds off many MMJ growers in Colorado thus far. Only time will tell.

In regards to the UN, the United States has a pretty good track record of giving them the middle finger whenever we want so I wouldn't feel threatened by them in the least.

I have been saying for the last 2 years, second term, Obama's policies are gonna swing in our favor. Obama has always said the current WAR ON DRUGS is a failure and destroys communities and families. Legalization just wasn't exactly the best issue to run a re-election campaign around. Now that he doesn't have to worry about re-election, he can tackle some of the more progressive social issues.

Ah the good ol' UN....I could see 'em sending a bunch of armor and blue helmets to Boulder. That would go over as well as a turd in a punch bowl. The only scary part is that the ONLY thing the UN is good at is fucking things up.

Coloradans have more guns than the U.N. can delegate for this btw. More soldiers too loyal to the U.S. amd not the U.N. too. If they even step foot in Colorado or Washington, in an aggressive manner, they are as good as dog meat.

fuck all that live feed camera shit. I wont do it. The government will not be constantly keeping an eye inside my home or business ever, and I think it is pathetic that Colorado growers and dispensaries go along with it.

I would tape this up over the camera if I were a Colorado grower.
