Study Proves Pot Has Little Effect On Driving

Alcohol makes me drive faster and cannabis makes me drive slower, however both impair my reaction speed. My ability to concentrate on driving is quite difficult when stoned out of my mind.

I won't drive if I'm really baked but if I'm choofing every day I usually am only lightly stoned and will drive well no worries!

It always amazes me when I think I am going 60km/hr (urban speed limit) and check the speedometer only to find it says 40km/hr!

"set, setting, & dosage"

"set, setting, & dosage"

although said in reference to lysergic acid, Timmothy Leary's comments that SET (mind set at the time) and SETTING (location etc.) are just as important as the dose taken

as already stated it depends on the person - me, I was stoned for 3 out of 8 of my Drivers Education hours when I was 15....decades later the only nasty vehicle accident I was ever in and responsible for happened when I was totally straight...which I've always thanked my lucky stars for... having trashed the vehicle and leaving the scene in an ambulance (as a precaution as I walked from the wreck)

of course the accident likely wouldn't have happened if I was stoned and chill, instead of rushing to get home...like I always say "Hurry Kills"

In Western Australia where I live the Plods have started drug testing drivers along with alcohol breath testing drivers. The beauty of the drug tests is that they are a swab test from the inside of your mouth. This test will only give a positive result if you happen to be on drugs at the time of the test. They don't test for metabolites like the urine tests do, so if you haven't had a cone for about eight hours, or a hit of smack or speed for about 12 hours, you are cool.
It's a pity that the work place drug testing regime is still using the urine test as these tests are acting like the Fun Police and preventing you from starting your new job because you had a little joint about Two weeks ago. But hey, all that Heroin you shot up on Friday night won't show up!!!
What quality of employees do these people want?

The rules are changing here in the UK, the polce are swabbing peoples dashboards and they got a device like a breathyliser. They will do you for DUI, fine you, ban you from driving for anything up to 2 yrs (which fucks your insurance for 5 yrs) And they come through your fuckin door & search your house.
I've smoked so much bud in my Land Rover, if It got swabbed, it would light up the tester like a christmas tree! lol

It seems there should just be a test that checks reaction time, coordination.

It doesn't matter to me why you can't pass the test ( i.e Too old, on opiods, baked, drunk or just whatever).

There are way too many people that can not safely drive a car under any circumstances and there is not a law or test or whatever keeping their unsafe asses off of the road.

I don't think I could drive if it wasn't for cannabis. Sober, I get very irate with people and I hate that about driving. Shit, I hate that about being sober in general, lol.

This study just helps drop some of those stereotypes that continue to plague cannibis users. When i got my liscence i took the test "under the influence" and only made no mistakes. :dance013:

My pops is getting up there in age. He cautioned me about smoking and driving because he woke up in a ditch saying the last thing he remembered before that was taking a toke. That was coming from a man who could roll a joint one handed while driving down the road and it is rolled so perfectly that even the lines on the bugler papers match up. No joke the mans "dubies" look like a factory nonfilter cig if you put them side by side.

Then there is this. (United States v. Patzer, 00-30360)

The U.S. appeal was denied but if they had originally went after him for being under the influence of a "controlled substance" the results may have been different. He was one of the lucky ones do not doubt.

I don't know peeps... I was so wasted last night I could hardly brush my teeth, let alone drive a car; and no I don't drink.

The problem is this information gets subverted.
I remember in the late 80's/early 90's ICBC said speed had little to do with accident statistics, accidents happen and speed was a relative non-factor, now the police are handing out massive amounts of tickets cause it's a cash-cow and ICBC supports that.

The american government/DEA says that marihuana has no legitimate medical usage, yet they hold a patent on certain cannabinoids. WTF?
