What is this thrip killer called?

Sorry, I had not been back to this thread in a while as the owner of the hydro store is not back from his vacation yet and I still am at a loss for the chemical he gave me. He was correct about it being great at what it does. One small spray and every single thrip is dead, just like magic! I never seen anything so effective at one drop per liter. This does make me a little more concerned on what the heck it is. Supposedly only works for thrips which makes me think it isn't a poisonous chemical or else it would kill more than just that species. It probably takes advantage of the organisms nervous system or something different from other bugs.

Jahovia, thanks for the concern but they are only 1 week or so into bud when sprayed. Any farther along I would have just lived with them until harvest ended.

Granger2, I believe you are right in that he is breaking the law in selling something without info or directions on the bottle. It doesn't make it right, but I believe he only gives these kind of things out to friends and people he knows well. I have done business with him for well over ten years so he considers me solid. I also see him about once a week (usually) and have met his children and have gone for supper ect. So I do consider him a friend. But you are right, hopefully he is looking out for the better interest in his clients and wouldn't hand over anything dangerous, but I can't speak for him. Greed does get the better of some so you could be right. Thanks and will talk to him about this.

The Gnome, I also appreciate your concern, but like I said above I consider him a friend, I just hope he thinks of me the same way. That said I do think he is sincere and you would have to know him to understand what I mean, but also a good point to think about. Thank you!

Medicalm, I believe I answered the question already, but I thank you also for mentioning and warning me. Could be possible he is scamming me, although I hope not. It did work like magic, although I have not tried Spinosad yet.

I will find out what it is in a couple days when he returns and will post it to let you all know. Should be interesting. In the mean time I am going to buy a bottle of spinosad as you all recommend and see the different effects they have and compare. Who knows, may be what he gave me is a bottle of concentrate Spinosad?

your store guy is playing you like violin.... he is an unscrupulous SOB at best.

i had a bad thrips infestation a while back, one good soaking with spinosad and it was all over for em.
you don't need $1000 a quart or whatever BS price tag he's putting on it to scalp you for a heavy duty toxin like
floramite to get rid of thrips

FWIW the store guy was only fibbing a little success 480sc sells for app $700 for a liter the shit is 44% spinosaid

Growshopfrank, thanks! Does Conserve have a milk white color with a consistency of sludge? I hope that is it, but today I was going through my fathers old bug killer shed and found an exact match of the smell and looks of the stuff I got from the hydro shop guy. It is not sold anymore and is a product called Seven.

I am almost positive it is the same, although I hope I am wrong as it has been banned I believe from Canada and is considered extremely toxic. I can't remember the active ingredients name, but will find out. Also my hydro shop guy is back from vacation tomorrow.

So, anyone know or used this chemical product called 'Seven'?

although it is spelled as 'Sevin" in this case not "Seven" as the number so I do not know if it is the same thing....

Good Luck

I just looked at the Conserve, I am the one who got a free sample from the "rep", and it's beige in color and has a thick consistency like ranch dressing or something.

I have some Conserve at 22%, retail $150 qt. seems $700 for 2x concentrate seems high, unless there's more stuff in it???

no just spinosaid and inert ingredient/s
I'm only guessing but I think the high price has to do with it being a Canada only product and for some reason Canadian pricing is totally fucked up for consumers

Prolly a fat tax by govt.

Oh yeah, never spray on outdoor flowers cause of the bee thing... I guess we need bees to continue our systems of agriculture as we know it.

Medicalmj and GrowShopFrank, yes it is an off white and the consistency of ranch dressing. On the bottle of Sevin it said 22%. It looks and smells just like it, and on the bottle it warns about killing bee's. Anyways, didn't talk to him yet as I need some soil soon so when I make that trip I will ask him. Sort of like killing two birds with one stone, as it is a fair distance from me. Thanks for all the response, I didn't think I would get this much help on the subject.
