About the Casey Jones..

What made this such a good plant? It has a good pedigree but so do a lot of other seeds and these stood out as a gem. I remember camping Seedbay in 2007 for these and it was an experience trying to get them. The word was out these were good and it was one of the rages. After years this is still one of the best in my opinion.

I ran 2 packs and selected my favorite 3. Down to one, a heavily leaning thai pheno. Stretched quite a bit. The smell on this plant was incredible. Overpowered everything in the room with this fruity, woody, gas smell. It was beautiful. Finished with heavy yields at 75 days and cured to be a similarly overpowering, dank smell. The high wasn't what I'd call functional. It was very powerful, melt into the couch with mind racing. Great stuff and to me will always be a classic seed.

I lost my original mother recently and I know no matter what greatness I grow, I will always miss that damn CJ smell. Great breeding was done on this one.

Your experiences?

Myself and several people i know grow/have grown the shmoe cut from a member here on ic. It grows some baseball bats.

I run a casey F3 selected towards the thai.Running two phenos from clone right now, still have seeds, might start selecting some more parents for the F4 soonish. Hungry gal, likes her nitrogen and mag.Weak stems,so tying is a must. Prefer to take her between 11 and 12 weeks,as I don't dig the speedy buzz I get when taking it at ten. Yields very well. Big,fat, somewhat airy buds. Aromas include meat, solvent, herbs and citrus. Taste of cured buds is citrus/savory/funky.

My regular smoke. Great for most situations. Best compromise between quality and quantity I've ever tried personally.

My Cut of Casey is a Full-on Sativa. Smells like earth and diesel. Very mild smoke, daytime buzz. Not my favorite by any means, but a nice plant. Because it is a bit Airy structure-wise, the cut is not so popular around here from a visual standpoint, but if it is rolled up in a joint, and smoked, people love it.

I get a chinese food smell out of it somettimes

Yeah I run the schmoe cut and I get a definite ginger kind of smell from it that I describe as asian food, in addition to the other funky notes.

Even takes on a grape hint when I let it go long. Awesome unique stuff.

Applesauce - what made this a good plant is good breeding in my opinion. Stick around, she'll come back to you someday for sure. This cut is putting people's kids through college and as such won't likely be lost anytime soon :D

Casey Jones was my first grow ever and I know for a fact H34D knocked it out the park with this one.. Never took a final dry weight which is a bummer but I am sure I got 4+ zips off her. Vegged for a LONG time while I was saving up for an HPS and researching soil mixes, ect. She came out DANK as fuck. Frosty, potent, rollercoaster sativa high.... Loved it, got that bitch comin back to me this December. Not sure if its the same cut but if its a CJ keeper you know its going to be some outrageous heady dank. Love that fuckin strain.

What made it great? I think the variety of phenotypes that all mostly kicked ass was what made it such a universally loved strain. Catchy name, great taste, great high.. You could find phenos for anyone and everyone. Puts out like a fucking wife too.

I had the chance to run Schmoes cut one time outdoors. I kept her alive all winter indoors (that was a real treat), and put clones outdoors. I was expecting massive yeilds but for some reason she only stacked calyxes. Temps were pretty cold that season, so she colored up quite a bit. Didnt yeild the fat colas Ive seen from others, but was def a treat to smoke. I wish I could get that girl back someday.

Along with her unmatched exotic beauty and fantastic potency, another trait that sets Casey apart is her vigor. Never met another strain that fills a pot with roots quicker and grows with such a purpose. H3ad hit it out of the park with this one, but then again which one didn't he? Homespun CJ f3 project is rollin now, gladly accepting any and all positive vibes. I'll always feel sooooooo freakin lucky that I caught the last Casey drop and one of the last packs by pure accident, up at 4:00 a.m tossing and turning, logged onto seedbay and there she was. Buy Now. Oh my god did that just happen? As psyched as I was at the time I still had no idea how much future joy one pack of seeds could bring. To me she's one of the best ever.

Fluffy Clouds

i grew first release pack and then many f2s... i loved them all :D never boring smoke... it needs a lot of light imo.. 2011 season i didnt grow any so i get cut for this season and i grew it next to ecsd, chemsour7, sourdiesel ibl riri, coastal collision(ecsd xsfvogkushbx) etc. and this cut of casey jones is the strongest of them all... very thaish, smells like choco coffee diesel, raw smell.. it flowers for 80+ days.. strong and long lasting, narcotic and trippy.. if i smoke too much of it, it puts me to sleep in half an hour hehe i also like those thai food smelling phenos more but this shit is strong, thai diesel, it has fluffy airy buds, but its personal stash.. it reminds me thaihazeskunk in growth lol

it was selected by Periphery, RESPECT!!!

Are any of the cuts around the Northeast?

I can't agree with it being finicky for a lot of light but that's my experience. This was one of my first grows in 07' and under a few hundred watts of CFL in a rubbermaid, I banged out a yield a first timer shouldn't have. Really, it was half the helping community here and the other half Casey Jones genetics. It blew up the last few weeks in flower under poor conditions. Remember, you don't know what you've got until it's gone.

I want the Orient Express that was used...that's where the chinese food smell comes from. Thai has a really nice range of terpenes that you don't find in most modern cannabis varieties....

^Agreed. The OE is basically what I'm going for in my selections. Christmas would come early if someone were to come out with an OE in seed.

I think Billy Goat is still working that line...not sure where to get the seeds though. I remember seeing them on another site sometime last year, just can't remember which one.

So many flavors and varieties in the casey... A nice energetic high. Only thing that I could complain about is the duration. Seems like I have to reach for the jar a bit more than some of my more potent varieties to stay fresh... Ya gotta stay fresh...
