Hey all.
Was thinking of "upgrading" from 600w to 1000w Hps.
Also looking at these new fandangled digital ballasts.
anyone moved from one to the other but kept the same output. and noticed any difference in power bills, yields etc?
are the worth it? or is just upping the wattage a better idea?
Thanks =)

I think if you are ready to upgrade....why not?

They run cooler....and don't take 5 minutes to start up. Keep your old one for back up. I have a 600w quantum and it has been great. I have had it for almost a year now.....not one hiccup.

Cheers

Use a light meter to see how well your magnetic is working. All of mine (different brands, all cheap models) had awfully poor light output compared to the digitals I switched to.

Some digital ballast makers claim that digital ballasts are 30% more efficient than the same wattage magnetic ballast. I dunno if it's true or not, but that's the claim.

Keep goin

Lol...what year is it?!?

Yeah, there's a difference..they are brighter!!

Been running digitals for years now...they work great! Some RF but if you don't mind that, no other real drawback.

Pluses include they are often "dial-able" these days...you can dial down the output if you want a dimmer light for veg, or early flower/transition... Also, more efficient use of power..more lumens per watt.

In terms of moving up to the 1000w you might want to go for 2 600's instead...

Good Luck.
