Dry Ice Sift Method

Couple things to make things easier for ya--
Instead of using chunks, pulverize the dry ice into "snow"...it doesn't beat up the material that way, and gives you a cleaner product--
Also, instead of putting the bag over the bucket, just pour it from the bucket straight into the bag, scrunch up the top...and shake-- Much easier than having to handle the bucket during shaking--:tiphat:

i have 2 sets of bags which i find is a pita to drain..at least the last 2bags...
dryice hash is a lot easier to make... and imo does not have that medicine taste which i so dislike when made in bubble bags..

i also find it a bit less harsh on the lungs..

is it as good as bubble... i can't tell the diff... pretty ripped on both... maybe not as clean... but i ain't sammy and can't tell...

For you Dry Ice sift Kif and Hashmakers, here's an excellent conversion chart that will come in handy:

I was thinking the same thing about pulverizing the dry ice, and I just put it in the bag to begin with.

Don't let the dry ice sit. I think start shaking, gently, right away.

nice thread, neo42o
ill give my 2 c in this method since i've certainly done it many many times:

i use 120 bag
i dont use bunjees around the bucket just drop plant matter and some dry ice in bag out of bucket after sitting for long ten or so minutes
i set up a couple folding tables and a long long peice of formica type material down on top of the 2 tables. i think it was like ten feet by four feet, big smooth flat surface.
start at one end, start shaking, best blondest shit comes out, move toward the other end slowly but as soon as u detect a texture or color change of material coming thu the bag.
usually i end up with 3 or 4 piles, starting w 2 very high quality piles and 1 ok pile, and 1 junk pile. junk pile is still very keify, not just "pulverized plant material" but def full of plant material, does that make sense? i have made batches that do bubble nearly in full melt style from the first pile.
also i once sealed (not vaccumed just sealed loose) some dry ice sifted keif in a foodsaver bag and left in a cool dry place for about 6 months, came out w an amazing smell and flavor, kind of different texture as well

The problem with putting it in the bag to begin with...is it creates more condensation (moisture) in the bag....it seems to be better to let it get cold in the bucket, then pour it into the bag--

I agree. What I was trying to say is to put the herb & dry ice in the bag, bypassing the bucket. I will make sure to put the herb in and then add the dry ice. I have some left over dry ice from tonite, and will try making some hash tomorrow afternoon.

I just made a batch using 5 gal bucket + 160 micron and exactly 4 ounces of chopped and dried trim, no large visible stems (I used Neo's method of trim/ice/trim/ice shaking mainly up & down). I did a 1 minute shake that produced 2.2 grams of really blonde material. Then an additional 2-3 minutes produced 5.3 grams of pretty blonde material. I was going to stop after that but instead I ran 1 more minute to produce the greener material and got 1.8 grams of that. The total cost of the dry ice was about $6 and the micron bag was about $14, so for about $20 I got 7.5 grams of nice pressable material, and 1.8g of lower grade kief. I weighed it an hour after finished, if it loses weight when I press it tomorrow I will update that.
