Chem, var:Calyptropsidium (Guava) 1K grow

Hey! My name is Kaoss and I've been fortunate enough to have a great friend gift to me this cut. Very excited about her as I've smoked a few batches that my friend has run and I can't get enough. Excellent smoke in the end if I play my cards right! Never grown a chem before so flower time can't come soon enough. Anyway, these have been vegging patiently for the last month (the big one more like 3 months) and I'm told they won't stretch much, we'll see how she goes. They veg at a slow pace so I like how easy they are to take care of in the extended veg period that I'm used to running.

The stems smell like straight up chem when rubbed which I find myself doing a lot lately lol. After my harvest later this month they'll be ready to go into the big tent! Anyway, here are a few shots to get started:
The original cut I was given, ready to flower

The clones to be run alongside:

Shot of my new mother/temporary veg tent:

(Short ceilings have forced me to veg a few plants at a time so I added a tent to my basement to make sure I can keep my strains alive!)

Thanks for checking me out, more to come when the fun starts!

Not to Hijack your thread Kaos but I can shed some light on this perhaps....

I am the original recipient of this cut (in my area at least) if anyone is wondering why I know anything about this, anyway...as far as I know there is only one Guava Chem and that is a clone only pheno of StarDawg. It was originally explained to me that this cut was a backcross of chem 91 and Afghani #1 but that could have just been an honest slip up. He has always called it Guava Chem.
Yield: Not the largest producer but makes up for it in potency. Dense nugs but not terribly large.
Finish time is awesome though; I have harvested at 7-8-9 weeks and it was great at all stages. I like it best around 8 weeks personally. But watching your Trichs is the only real way to know when to harvest, situational changes or disturbances can influence the speed of your finish time. 8 Weeks seems to be when my trichomes are near 25% amber.

Hope this was informative =)

Ouzo thanks for explaining. i might be about to get a cut of this thats why im wondering. it needs to yield large for me in order to keep it even though its extra potent. have you grown the clone only chem d before? if you have how would you compare the yield to that?

ive heard there are alot of different cuts of star dawg floating around is the guava cut the most potent one? sorry to bombard you with all these questions but im extremely curious about this cut especially since its suppose to be a sativa from a mostly indica strain. i was gonna buy seeds of star dawg but if this cut represents the best of what the strain offers than i should be all set as long as i get it

Sadly I don't have much to offer you in your other questions. I just smoked some Chem D the other day but I've never grown it myself.
I have also never had any stardawg smoked or grown other than this cut so I don't have much to compare it to. I will tell you though that there is a reason why this cut is prized; unique flavors and smells with a kick ass high I'm sure the other cuts are good but my benefactor chooses to keep this one around for a reason, and believe me he has about as much access as someone can have to just about any genetics he wants.
As for sativa dominant the buzz is strong but not too stony or sleepy, the growth is all indica though, the leaves get a little too big to say its too sativa dominant, but perhaps compared to other StarDawg it is.
In my opinion if you have a chance to try this cut I would highly recommend it but...if you are looking for a really high yielder its probably not gonna cut it for you. Yield is the only real soft spot with this strain IMO.

I don't think that this is the right strain for that particular setup, it likes a longer veg and doesn't stretch out much in flower.

^I don't mind much of a hijack at all considering the discussion is relevant. I had a bit of trouble finding much info on this girl or the stock she came from to begin with so it's all good here.

Anyway, you are right, not much stretch in flower at all yet. I like this trait because I have limited vertical space, veg space being the smaller area. Vegged the beast for over 2 months and she didn't need more than 1-2 toppings. She's at day 9 so we'll be seeing some photo-worthy growth here soon!

Nice tents and plants you've got going. What sizes are those tents if you don't mind me asking?

-Funk

Hey Funkbomb, don't mind at all bro.The flower tent is 76''x76''x76'' and veg set up is 24''x48''x54''. I have no carpentry skills so these have treated me very well in the last year. Thanks for stopping through, appreciate the kind words. Take care.

Whats up friends? I've been really really busy lately and haven't had much posting time. Just thought I'd drop in with a quick update.
The girls are smelling ridiculous! Very resinous and sticky with a delicious chem funk! One of the girls had a one-night-stand with a C99BX Male and is looking nice and knocked up!
Here we are:

Really excited for the next few weeks! If the flower tent wasn't so crowded right now I'd have the big girl out to be photographed, but I'll have to find the motivation to do that another day.

Thanks for peepin!

Lookin good Kaoss! You're about 5-6 weeks in right? Those girls are going to stank your place up pretty bad soon if they aren't already =). I'm at the beginning of week 4 with 5 of them right behind you. I'll be seeing our friend this weekend just so you know. Enjoy the stank!

What up Ouzo? Thanks for the kind words!

We're at around day 37, I love the smell of this plant, so complex and amazing! It starts out being overwhelmingly leather and chem followed by incense and kush. Excellent! I know I'll be doing a run of these whenever time and space allows as nobody in my area ever has anything remotely like this cut. The samples I was given along with the clone have turned guava into one of my favorite smokes hands down. Can only imagine the extracts to be had from this on!

Whenever I run a cut for the first time I try and let them grow on their own without cutting off any branches. This is easily the bushiest strain I've encountered when untopped, and I'll be doing some pruning next time around. She doesn't seem to stretch upward in flower as much as she does outward which makes canopy management sort of a task with other strains flowering alongside. Wondering what a single cola SOG setup could produce with her.
